Rms, max, and real world application. I tend to error toward safety (tone flavor being most important) in power handling.

Extra power handling never hurts. Sensitivity will be significant. So many factors come into play especially with guitar amps because you not only have to consider room size and distance to the listener but if you want to overdrive the output tubes for tone or sustain a speaker with too much sensitivity could make it hard to do without getting too loud.

Extra power handling never hurts if nothing else has changed! But you can't increase power handling without changing other things, some of which may affect the sound.

As far as questions go, can you possibly give us real world useful ability to estimate decibels. I've been told about 124db for a bass amp is pretty ideal. You've mentioned in the past that decibel readings are more important than wattage. Was curious if we could get some real world examples.

dB SPL is ironically not that useful because its so dependent on how you measure it - ie peak vs burst vs average, frequency range its measured in, measurement vs cab position, room, etc. I use the app on my iPhone quite a bit to compare different situations (knowing that I've figured in the other stuff) with rehearsals reaching about 115dB according to that app.

Is Barefaced using the new 2022 & later Vintage 30’s with the more translucent mesh dust cap?

We always use the most recent Vintage 30s - we get frequent deliveries from Celestion UK as about half the cabs we sell have custom drivers (and there’s over 40 choices!)
