Nick, Thank you for all the videos and all this wonderful information. You'll probably never even see this but here it goes any ways. I am brand new to this "hybrid athlete" training and I have to say, I absolutely love it. You have been such a great tool for me to get started and I use A LOT of your information in my own training. I was a fat old veteran at 341 lbs when I started in the summer. I couldn't even run because it hurt my knees and back too much. Now I'm down to 274 lbs and I run 5 miles almost every single day. I watch a lot of your KZbin stuff just so I can get insight to how I can incorporate this hybrid training into my own training and new lifestyle. Right now I'm currently at a sub 10 mile and I am trying to improve that sub 10 by utilizing some zone 2 training. I also lift M-F. I lift in the mornings and run late afternoon. It's what works with my schedule the best. I'm also big on calories and my macros, I know your not a huge macro chaser but, since I am trying to lose fat and build muscle in a calorie deficit I find it very important that I am tracking my intake. I'm currently eating about 2600 cals a day and burning about 32/3700 a day, according to google fit. I try to eat 40% carbs, 40% protein, and 20% healthy fats. I ensure that I eat ZERO sugar and I do not waste calories on junk. Every time I'm in the gym I am always going one more. One more rep, on more set. And I will continue to go one more when it comes to my running. Next week I will add 1 more mile to all my runs and will keep doing so until I can hit that 10 mile mark. My goal is to run a half marathon next year at a sub 10 mile. Thank you for all the information and inspiration in your videos! Keep going one more and I will do the same. Thank you! -Will Vaughn

Nick, have you ever tried cardio and weight training together? Like for example do a heavy squat, bench or deadlift set, paired with a cardio machine like bike, row or ski erg, then followed with a fast pace 1km run and do repetitions or that cicruit? Running while lifting heavy weights really makes a big difference, and for me , really takes the term “hybrid athlete” to another level. Instead of staggering the running and lifting.

The body will adapt to CNF stimulus and metabolic stimulus whether those are in the same workout or across the same week. I don’t think it is more advantageous to do them in the same session other than increasing intensity unless there’s a specific event like CrossFit. @@FrankieRomeo1 you obviously arent getting the point im trying to make. Unless you do it together at a high intensity you wont get it. Creating a schedule and tag teamming is so important as parents of young children. I am not a morning person, but lunch time works best for me and helps reenergize me for the rest of the day. Other fitness tips, I would say is to have a treadmill or bike trainer in front of your tv. You do not have to be a super athlete, but walking for 30 minutes to an hour while watching a game or your favorite tv show helps so much with fitness.
