I ate that whole breakfast everyday. Crushed it. The key was eating your eggs and prep other stuff while you're chewing. French toast in FL was better than the pancakes though

I'm not sure what Army mess hall chow is like today, but breakfast in the Ranger Company (before the battalions were started up) I served in was the best meal. I always ate two pieces of toast covered with hash browns, a ham n' cheese omelette, and then smothered in S.O.S. with bacon on the side and an order of pancakes. The other meals were nothing to write home about. Some of the stuff we did with C-rations in the field was more creative than the cooking in the mess hall. I did get the opportunity to eat at the Open mess hall at Eglin--those Air Force guys ate really good.

I like the strategy you used in eating breakfast at Camp Merrill. Back in 72, I just stuffed everything in my mouth and washed it down with the juice. I didn't even melt the butter. I ate it as is on the pancakes--which, to this day, are the best I've ever eaten--and smothered them in a pool of syrup so they just slid down my throat. Unfortunately, I never finished the cereal but then I wasn't much of a cereal eater.even as a child and I had no idea that the uneaten cereal would haunt my thoughts during the 10 day mountain FTX. I will say the french toast at Camp Rudder was also very good. I can't remember the name of the place but there was a restaurant just outside the base (Victory area) that served a Ranger buffet for students. After I graduated, I went there and ate until I puked and then repeated several times. I also went to the PX and picked up probably the one thing I fantasized about the most in Ranger School--Hershey chocolate and Skippy peanut butter. I stuffed myself with that for about two weeks straight.

@johnnygreene29765 жыл бұрын
@@pfdrtom Can't remember the name--but if you came off post it was right off Victory Drive. They scheduled their buffet when a Ranger class graduated--so the place obviously had a connection to the Ranger class cycles. I want to say it was called Ranger Joe's--but I think I maybe confusing the restaurant with a place providing outdoor gear and stuff for Ranger school. The buffet lasted for about four hours and was nothing to write home about on a culinary level other than permitting hungry Ranger students opportunity to gorge themselves on a wide variety of food typical of buffets in the late 60's and early 70's. Mind you, this was before McDonald's introduced the McMuffin.

Johnny Greene my pops wasn’t a ranger but your comment about getting Hershey’s chocolate and skippy peanut butter from the px reminds me of a story my dad told me about when he was in basic at fort ord in 1970 when they went to the px for basic supplies for hygiene and what not but the DS told everyone do not buy anything except what you have been told to buy and some dude bought like 20 Hershey bars and I guess the DS’s found out and had the dude open up his foot locker and they found them and made the dude eat every single one. @@SpaceCowboy909 When I was in the Mountain Phase of Ranger Training during the techniques training they'd let us go to the small PX in the camp with the understanding that we were not to purchase what they called "Hoagie bait" -- which was anything consumable, especially candy. I went there and purchased about $25 worth of candy; which, back then was a shitload of sweets. That night they had an inspection in our cabin and the instructors found my stash. They made me take it outside to the outhouse and dump it down the hole. I'm told by guys that went through in the summertime that while taking a crap in the outhouse hornets would fly in and out of the hole between your legs--their nest was just inside the lip.. The instructors told them don't mess with them and they'll leave you alone. One thing is for sure; no one sat in the outhouse and read the newspaper.

Your video reminded me of the last patrol in Florida. I mentioned that I was in a screwed up platoon. We had an LT. who's father was a big shot general in the Pentagon. This LT flunked every graded patrol in Florida and had only passed one in the mountains. So he got the actions at the objective and had to pass to graduate (think it was his fourth attempt in Florida). We opened fire and the squad leader told us to move out (and my platoon was so screwed up that we didn't exercise any rifle squad tactics--we just walked to the objective. This was before squad leader was an evaluated position.) I remember my M16 jammed. By the time I got it unjammed, the rest of the squad was about fifteen paces in front of me. So I got up and ran to get in formation and tripped and fell just as I got on line. That action resulted in the rest of the team and squad hitting the ground. From that point on, the entired platoon approached the objective exercising rifle squad tactics and the LT was given an "above average" grade on the patrol. It was the only time we did that on the objective while in Florida. Fortunately, I passed both patrols in the mountains; and my only graded position was a movement from the objective to the patrol base.

I've found that Oranges are the best for re-hydrating especially during long runs and is far superior than anything else. Fructose? I dunno why but I can do 20-40km much better with oranges than any other supplement or food. Also on courses you always risk getting sick due to communal living so the extra vitamin C is highly desired.

Very difficult,it would be way easier with a big,huge,globe spoon.You should pour the or. ju. also on the puncakes and not fork with cereal,drink them.You had no head movement and the speed of the bites must be rabbitty ones.

Put everything on the plate except for orange. Pour milk over and make into goopy mush. Drink/chew mush. Grab orange between thumbs and forefingers . Turn orange inside out and consume orange in one bite drink juice.
