Owned 3 of these, 2 new and my current one a 15000 mile 03 plate [can`t buy new ones anymore] best car ever made. Does exactly what it says on the tin. simple, so easy to drive. Gets you from A to B which is all I ask of a car. This one looks a peach, I would have jumped in if I knew about it first.

What a find. I worked on the seating for the later versions- from the first major facelift, model code 090, and that version, model code 158. The free play in the recline was a weak point of the design. There were 4 planetary gears between the sun and outer gears, and there was always a difference in the size of the outer two which resulted in a lot of play. The rear seat cushion is bolted at the rear, but there are two clips at the front which hold it down. There is a wire loop that protrudes from the lower part of the cushion and it simply pushes in to a clip in the floor. It should refit with a push downward if the loop is in the right place. If the clip is damaged it is easily replaced . Part number 88304 51E00. It is still in production today.

Also the seat base is made of thin metal and cracks , I'm not that heavy either.
@jsavill7925 Жыл бұрын
@@amigachris it’s a shame if you had that happen. I was not aware of any market feedback on that at the time and as the vehicle was in production for 9 years a lot of them were in the market. A lot of K11s were used as driving school cars where there is a lot of ingress egress and they are often the most severe for durability.

The Twitter pics suggested it was a total beaut but the video really does it justice. What a brilliant buy and a definite keeper. I love it. Never driven a CVT K11 but I know the motoring press used to rave about them.

That's absolutely lovely 😍 Like a new car although at 13000 miles it virtually is. Thinking L stands for low. Keeps it in lower gears for traction in the winter as I think that is a cvt box not sure how that works?!

This is just crazy. Why would anyone pay £20k plus for a brand new small car when they can have what is effectively a brand new Micra for not much more than 10% of that, and they get 'sport mode' thrown in for free!

Why would anyone buy a new car over a K11, you ask? Mainly because cars have moved on in the 30 years since the K11 was introduced: Safety: this K11 lacks antilock brakes, side impact protection and has only one airbag. Its structure is also much weaker than today's cars (it weighs only 850kg) and it would score 0 on today's NCAP tests. If you have a family, then it's worth taking into account that this car is very much less safe than an equivalent modern car. NVH/comfort: K11s are very loud at anything above 50mph and the suspension is very harsh and crashy. There is almost no refinement and the seats are uncomforatble. Today's cars are much quieter, more refined, and have more comfort and a better ride quality. Equipment: This car has virtually no equipment that would be expected today. Today's superminis have air conditioning, electric windows, electric mirrors, remote central locking, ABS brakes, good stereos, and some have cruise control and satnav. This K11 has none of these. Economy: Today's superminis achieve better fuel economy than the K11. Parts are getting hard to find for the K11. For example, the special CVT transmission fluid for this car is now unobtainable from Nissan or anywhere else, and servicing costs are likely to be lower for today's cars. So.... those are just some of the reasons why people would buy a more modern supermini over a K11. Don't forget, a new Kia Rio or similar doesn't start at ₤20,000+, but is much cheaper.
