Chai is also a tea, not a mix of spices. I’ve tried spice mixes, but it isn’t the same as what I’m used to (my parents are Indian) as the flavors are just better. You’d probably have something just as good or better if you buy chai at a local Indian grocery store instead.

@@quinitawhitfield9541 yep, in India milk tea is what is known to be chai, black chai is normal tea (no milk, sugar is included unless you specify it) and you need to specify it to be masala chai in order to get what Americans think is the normal chai here.

What they made is similar to what would be called a “dirty chai”. Basically if you want to just have chai then just make the chai, which could be made by steeping extra chai tea bags in a small amount of water. That would create the “chai concentrate”
