Barley transformation

Here is an instructional video showing isolation of Barley embryos for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation.
It follows the process from identifying starting material through to selecting successful transformants.
This is a method in which genes can be inserted into the genome of barley.

Hi, Thank you. its a very useful video. I have a question i.e Instead of the immature embryo, can we do it on a mature one? if the mature embryo will be successfully transformed and regenerated?

Hi Manas! Pleased you liked the video. In answer to your question one of our scientists says it is much more difficult to regenerate plants from mature embryos than from immature embryos so this means that transformation efficiencies from mature embryos are very low
