PART 1 of this pontiacs refresh as I get it woken back up and on the road to relive that classic and classy glory!
I’ve learned that it is pronounced Pontiac Parisienne (Pari-zee-n) you’ll come to see that in videos in the near future.

It’s a Chevy 305, the clicking sound is the choke, it’s norma. The 7th digit in the VIN should be a “G”, that is an LG4 305 165hp in 1985.

He said it's a 307. That would be the Oldsmobile supplied engine. I owned one almost identical to this one.

Yes 305 Chevy engine was used on Parisienne's 1983 thru mid 1986 model year. GM switched to Olds 5.0 L 307s a few months into production of the 86 year for unknown reasons. Most GM wagons also got the 307, even Caprice wagons, while the Caprice sedans still had 305s thru 1990 style. Odd.

@@todell7008 Sounds exactly like the 140HP 307 Olds to me. Reliable but a total turd of a motor. The olds has a rather PROMINENT oil filler sticking WAYY up high on the motor. 1st thing u see opening the hood!

The clicking is the electronically controlled carburetor. All GM carbs starting in 1981 till end of production (1990) used CCC or Computer Command Control system that preceded the TBI fuel injection systems. These CCC systems have similar sensors, O2, MAP, TPS as the TBI fuel injection but use electronically controlled metering rods in the carb. (The clicking sound)

Never heard the clicking in mine. Had that in a fleetwood. I think my metering rods were stuck in the FULL flow. Running rich, stalling, awful emissions, etc. It was always an argument when I told the mechanics I had an "electronic feedback carb." NO you dont, u have a TBI like on the blazers." Thats nonsense, that doesn't exist. OH it is a carb with wires on it....

Our family car during the early to late 80’s was a 1980 Pontiac Bonneville, with the smallest V8 GM ever made, the 265 ci. Man was that thing a gutless wonder. Did get decent gas mileage though, and that just ran and ran, even with low octane gas and noticeable pinning.

The 307 olds motor has the oil filler at the front of the engine. Undercoat this thing with a lanolin based undercoating like Fluid Film, Wool Wax, or PB Blaster Surface Shield if you want to keep it from rusting to nothing.

If you are familiar with Davidsfarm this is a classic Pontiac. It was a Chevy/Pontiac combined. Very rare car. Made 83 to 86. You have a gem. Wash her up. Check how good the carburetor is and get her back on the road. Davidsfarm has a 86. His is the Cheviac. Check his old videos out

He did. And they never put any oil in the cylinders. I bet they put some nice scratches down the cylinder walls. On top of that, there they are using the old gas to start it. It's old gas type, so that might help a little, but now the whole fuel system is getting plugged with the gunk that's in it. I live close to this guy I might of even of met him over the years. The one thing that's going to be hard to fix is the mice in this area are hell on cars, even if you plug all the holes up, the little bastards still find their way into the car or can chow down on the wires. With 40.000 miles on the O.D. it should be saved as is not with the tires he has on it while selling it. I hope he saved the rims and hub caps. And the skirts that are on it. Like I said, it deserved another chance at life on the road, so whoever buys it, I hope they realize the potential of the car and don't turn it into a demo or a beater. And keep it off are roads around here in the winter. 1 year with the salt, and it will fall apart fast.
