APworkshops are awesome and Griff there is a very helpful expert. I had the same problem with the rear brake bleeding on my Tuono. I did what you're planning, took off the caliper and suspended it so the nipple was at the highest point I could get it and then bled it, worked a treat.

Nice one dude, glad you got it going, the only way you will bleed that rear brake is to take the caliper off and raise it as high as you can up near the seat to get the nipple to its highest point then bleed, the rear brakes are a known ball ache, change the clutch slave for an Oberon, the OEM one will be worn and you will for ever be changing the cylinder seal 👍

AF1 Racing in the US is a backup to AP workshop. They both are clutch. When the previous owner of my 05 RSVR used the wrong lock-tight on the stator bolts, my stator basically came loose and scarred my fly-wheel. Both shops wanted $1600 USD for the OEM replacement parts. I searched the internet for days. Don't be surprised what you can find in Italian junkyards. OEM fly-wheel for $300 plus shipping.

Great job. Had three of these now including a standard 2001 rsv, a 2002 rsvr and a 2004 eddy rep. Best fun you can have on two wheels. These remain my favourite bikes in 35 years of biking. Characterful, grunty and very rapid bikes. Handling on the rsvr models is sublime. Gone to the dark side now with an r1200rs because a bad back meant an end to my rsv days but they remain an undervalued classic. Watch for swelling tanks with ethanol in petrol. They all swell unless internally epoxy coated. Left as standard, the expansion through swelling eventually will crack the front mounting lugs. Griff and the gang at AP workshops are absolute stars👍 Watch for the clutch slave cylinder leaking. Better to fit an oberon one. Also AP supply uprated starter solenoids. If not already done, this is a must do to avoid damaging the starter sprag clutch if the battery runs down. Other than that, they’re a bomb proof reliable motor.

I've had 3 a Tuono and 2 Mille's. The 🤬🤬🤬 rear brake. Agree with old mate above. Get an Oberon and don't look back. I even had the rear caliper catch fire on a track day as it developed a stuck piston and warped the disc and f@#ked the seals 🤬 very average design in my humble opinion

@@stoneautomotive 🤣🤣🤣 well yep I spose so. You'll love the one about my 2001 996 had the Ohlins rear shock,5 spoke pewter grey Marchisini's. 50mm Termignoni's Bike I'd lusted after since I turned 13. Imported it from Japan in 2002. Went straight to the so called Duke specialist for new belts, oil, fluids etcetera. Guy for some reason undid the little tank prong at the front of the tank🤷 needless to say didn't tighten the 8mm bolt, made it's way into the front cylinder as you know Duke's tank is the airbox cover. Bill for over 4k within 1 month ownership. Cracked piston, bent valves chrome chipped from the front cam lobes. Dealer fully skipped out on taking blame. Got it back from another Mechanic rode it twice but the dream was shattered. Traded it in within a fortnight on a 97 TLS 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Be aware that your clutch retaining bolt is loose, it shouldn't rotate when you pull the clutch in. Also, change the clutch slave for an Oberon one, as other recommended. The OEM one tends to wear out and leak constantly. Check the oil level only as stated in the manual, dry sump systems are really great, but the oil level is a bit tricky, it should only be checked with a warm engine, or you'll get a false reading, as when cold it's usual to have the oil under the Min level. Also the reg/rec wires tend to melt at the plug, especially the 3 ones coming from the stator, so check their state before riding it. Also the grounding on the electrical side can cause issues with the charging/starting/electrical so maybe it would be a good idea to check the grounding wires. I have mostly the same engine on my '04 Caponord and it's just wonderful

Italian tune up. Hahah. Made me laugh 🤣 I've just purchased a 2001 SL1000. Had two RSVR1000 before this one. Just sold my 1100 Tuono V4. On the road i prefer the V2. That uncorked SL1000 feels more grunty that the RSVR's that I've had. That surprises me. I guess thats what twin pipes does and a eprom.

You should've unbolteded the fuel-pump/filter from the very start!!! At that point, that would've saved You a lot of time draining down your battery and putting excessive wear on your starter motor. As it was clearly shown, when You removed the fuel-pump,the hose to the filter, wasn't even CONNECTED!!! Lol. So when it'd fire for a second or two,all it was doing, was burning up the fuel that got caught in that open fuel-filter hose and was sending fuel to the injectors via "vacuum"!!! Quite a learning experience,eh? : >)

know these well Clutch-slave is leaking. Known fault. Back then every one was replacing the slave with after market ones with more seals. In N america it was evo and across the pond Oberon....also the fluid will go black right quick. Not an issue. Charging curcuit...you want a robust battery. Failed starts have been known to break the sprag clutch in the starter. Look up battery mod. Also always start with the fast idle.....it's a grumpy motor. Ckeck the one way valve on the line from the clutch pack. It makes the vacuum slipper work. They all fail. If you can blow in both directions the slipper will not work. The engines are stout in these. Little chance anything is wrong in there.

If the reservoir turns out to be empty again, the system does leak. By biggest guess would be the slave cilinder. Just a tiny bit of rust/dirt can make it leak, when operating the clutch. Difficult to see. Overhauling the slave cilinder, like the RC8, would be a nice option.

Glad your enjoying the channel 😎 Rear brake all bled (simply needed the caliper removed and rotated to make the bleed nipple the highest point) more in the next video 👍
