Brilliant job. The price was spot on bearing in mind its potential to be a total dud and a breaker. You didn’t go mad on a bike that wouldn’t warrant it. What you’ve done is breathed life into an excellent bike to be someone’s pride and joy. Good on you. I’d like to see a salvage rebuild next! Cheers, Ian

@@stoneautomotive I’m sure the purist would but it’s a matter of sense and even a pristine Mille doesn’t justify it. My aged T3 Cali was never lost but neglected by me. I’d take your path to get it back to a viable bike. Maybe even a KZbin video?!

Fantastic job 👍👍 I remember Griff fitted a front spocket with one tooth less (14) which transformed the acceration & didnt reaaly effect top end... also the silencer bracket fitted on your bike..is an orginial aprilia special part - came with the factory supplied arrows exhaust.. those brackets are rare !!
@stoneautomotive
@stoneautomotive 7 ай бұрын
Thanks David, I dare call Griff as I’m gonna get stick for not changing that internal hose like he told me too haha! I was genuinely impressed how well the old girl goes especially as the tyres were pretty old, really felt a wonderful thing, a tooth drop would have certainly livened her up 😎 Awesome, I even said to my friend the bracket pretty much matches the sub frame in terms of material finish and welding so looked like a factory part - shame someone removed the arrow for a Pipe worx silencer 🤦‍♂️

It was a great purchase. With all your hard work, it would be criminal if you didn't see a reasonable return. My mate thought he would have a go at an auction salvage ninja 600. He deliberately picked it because it was classified as none structural. It turned out the frame was bent. He sent it away to be straightened. But it was not possible to correct it. So you never know.
@stoneautomotive

Thanks Paul, let’s hope the auction goes well 😬 That’s the thing that worries me with salvage bikes, can potentially be a lot of hidden damage like you mention with your friends! Let’s see what comes up over the next few weeks 😬

As always, enjoyed watching another episode of this RSV restoration. Great to watch and great encouragement to do things yourself. Beautifull classic. As it is a none RSV mille R, I think you are Lucky to have the Carbon parts. Just to buy the winddeflectors and sidepannel inerts, I would probably have to pay about €300. These days not easy to find. Brilliant serie and hopefully next serie will be something in the same order. Nice forgotten bikes: Suzuki TL1000R, Kawasaki ZX7R, Suzuki GSX 750 SRAD, Honda CBR900RR (model1999), Yamaha YZF750. Keep up the good show! I’ll be around

Thanks Robert & glad you enjoyed the series 😎👍 Yep it certainly has a few trick parts, one of the viewers who worked for Aprilia advised the exhaust hanger is a factory upgrade and rare to come across too, some one loved this old girl once upon a time 👍 I would love to ride a TL1000R, very rarely see them these days, hopefully someone watching has one abandoned in the garden and wants to sell it 😅

Be very careful with the R6 if you do buy, I've got a gen 1 too and can tell you it's more likely than not the engine cylinder liners will have cracked. I think you got the bike AND finished it for a great price!! Personally been waiting myself for a Copart bargain to come up for sale but it seems to me that too many people are paying way over the odds for bikes (and cars) that by the time they’ve repaired the cost is more than value. Great if your keeping it but stupid if you want to make money!

Thanks Liam 😎👍 Your 100% on the money, I think many get sucked to purchasing salvage and buy the time you’ve rebuilt it your not far off a straight one.. that’s before you factor the reduced resale due to the category 🥴

Congratulations on a job well done. Parting with something you've sweated on is always a little sad. It would be nice if the new owner appeared on camera because I'd like to see the look of happiness when he swings a leg over for the first time.

Came out great buddy, regarding the R6 (Earlier models), make sure the liners are good. My son has had 2 and both ended with liner issues. Yam R1's can have gearbox issues, again my son killed his 2004 and needed a complete engine and box rebuild.

Cheers Chris 👍 I recall that liner issue on my first 5EB along with the false neutral on the gearboxes.. thought it was relatively rare but sounds like it’s certainly something to be aware of from your situation if I buy one 🥴

Always run the bikes on V-power as shell is nearest to me, sadly it seems even the small amount of Ethanol can be troublesome for these classics ☹️ I have discovered ESSO premium contains no ethanol at all so potentially worth the switch especially with the tank swell that these can suffer with

How about a Honda SP2/Yam RD500/Suzi RG500 gamma/Honda fireblade/Kawasaki GT550/HondaCB900. Yes I know most are hens teeth but you may get lucky also there’s lots of people out there who poorly “tidy up” bikes it would be nice to see real renovations.

I’ve owned an SP1, before they sky rocketed in value 😅 like you mention, rare as hens teeth for the old classic 500cc 2 strokes! An old 900 Blade would be mega! Certainly keeping my eyes peeled for one!

Loved the video, and what you did to the bike, your hard work really shines through, great transformation, the fuel pipe i didn't know about, i have a similar age aprilia rsv1000 first generation bike and touch wood have never had that issue and hope not to, .so thanks for that heads up, have you any gearing tips mine has been down geared to 16 - front,, 44 rear,, great for acceleration but revs out a bit too quick for my liking..just wondering 🤔,, oh and do you know of any dual or triple compound layer tyres that are sporty touring tyres that last well?.tyre choice is a bit of a nightmare.

Thanks for the kind words Paul and glad you enjoyed the series 😎👍 It’s certainly worth changing that fuel pipe before it fails, as seen in this video it’s complete break down when it fails 😅 Never played with the gearing so can’t advise sadly. Best tyre for me for fast road use is still currently the Pirelli Rosso Corsa 4 but I don’t do any winter riding kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIisf31rrq2hrbcsi=i2sxnCOtGDo0VjED

@stoneautomotive many thanks I just watched the rosso corsa 4 tyre review on the ktm, looks like a great tyre , and I have been looking at the angel GT amongst other brands, for me personally it will be maybe that tyre or a very hard wearing dual compound tyre as it really needs to last and unfortunately spend a good portion of time on the centre of the tyre at high speeds, obviously ah humm not over 70 mph because we all don't run over that speed on the roads officer 😏..but certainly hard wearing as tyres aren't cheap to buy or fit, obviously different for you in your garage on that front..but thanks again for the video .
