It's nice to see you guys saving this farm. I have my uncles farm was.a old working farm an the new owner tore everything down just for the land. He said the crown was worth more than the land and buildings.

With the bad boards put them thru a chipper and you have yourself mulch or compost. Many big changes and it's looking so much better. : ) Peace

WOW the Barn looks even bigger than before ! I ....LOVE....old barn! How exciting to,be working on that now. Those men are a great find. Respectful of your wishes to preserve as much of the original barn as possible...laying the wood down in nice piles! I'm so glad you are saving the barns Laura, they are very neat. That corn crib looks older the barn. If it has square nail heads it is much older. They were built when people had to lean on each other, and help the next farm build their barn. Thank you for sharing.

You could use old metal too, instead of using so much wood, I'm just giving suggestion for materials so your cost doesn't get sky high, metal from your roof, maybe for a big door, in the back of your barn

Fantastic you can save the Barn. To build from ground a new one. And the size to replace the original would be very costly. Especially where barn lumber is Oak Wood. Great they are saving as much of the Oak Wood as possible to refurbish barn. Those stone foundations are fantastic. Our home 1856 has a stone foundation we had chinked. It's solid and works fantastic.

I don't know if you have any tree service places nearby, that sell milled lumber, or logs, or if you have any trees on your property that have been damaged ,( lightening or whatever, wind) that you can mill yourself with a chainsaw, just an idea for wood, or maybe a neighbor has a building they want to come down, that you can salvage, from the removal of the building, or if you have farm auction houses around your area, sometimes you can buy a stack of barn boards, barns Are a dying part of America's landscape

Not sure if you thought about this. But you could so hold rustic weddings on your property. If you fix up a barn for reception area you could make 5k plus a wedding. I just attended a wedding on similar property the owners lived in the house. They provided a room for the bride and her party to get ready. It was very nice

Up in the attic of our 1860's house, we have a good size tree limb shovel up to support a section of the eves where a window was built. I don't know how long it took someone to realise the building error and put that there, but that's a reason I love old properties.

Mini cows! Far more useful than a pony, but you can usually find ponies for almost free on Craigslist. I normally would not suggest Craigslist, but in the matter of rescuing a little pony, it is very handy. People get to the point of not being able to take care of their horses, especially in the winter.

If your goal is to house but a few animals then you don't need all these structures. Make one from the others. Saving money on new lumber. You may also reduce your taxes by having fewer structures on the property.

Very true! It may be something that I just bring down like 5-10 bales at a time. When I did the math I think I’ll need about 50 bales for the winter 😅 so I’ll definitely have to store some up there. Thank you!! He is cute and wild lol. The goats I’ll possibly milk but mainly just pets & hoping they’ll make a little income with offspring.
