A fascinating peek into Barnsley’s past by the local filmmaker and historian Dave Cherry.
Eric and Pat Gillott were emptying a house, on Norcroft Avenue, in Ward Green' and stumbled upon a pile of old cine films. The lady Doris Sharp was Pat's cousin and had passed away.
They took the Standard 8 films to Dave Cherry to digitise and he has stumbled across remarkable footage of a bygone age.
There are scenes of the town centre with a series of Mayor’s parades and Worsbrough Mill before the modernisation.
With Dave, Pat and Eric do the commentary on the film.
