Thanks so much for watching today guys! Quick correction: The Necromancer/Scholar will NOT retaliate when hit. Sorry, was hopped up on Sneak energy and spoke wrong! hahaha Also, Rats can be used pretty effectively in the early game in a large stack if you can get ahold of a small settlement and focus it solely on rat production. Combine that with the one wielder who buffs rats, and it gives you a solid means of accessing lots of rats quick. I still think they're better to fill in space on your army versus a focus though :)

Played a 1v1 against my friend as Brother Hillar, plague rats only and it was a blast ^^ I picked all these extra health points and extra damage buffs, and when stacks of 150 rats all get +3 health and +3 dmg per rat... oh boy, my friend rly felt that rat king apocalypse coming for his frog boody :)

This is the exact kind of video overview I wanted since I've gotten the game. What I gonna have to say though, after playing a few skirmishes with the Barony: The Necromancer is not to be underestimated. Not too go into too much detail, but the essences The Barony has access too allows for a pretty insane magic only army, using the necromancer as a sort of living batterie.
@Sir_Bucket2 жыл бұрын
Esoecially since Arcana is really good to stop melee ennemies from reaching your backlines. If your necromancers are the only troops left, they can survive for a while while pushing back the ennemies, or using arcane storm to destroy everything
@assassin501502 жыл бұрын
A fun use for necromancers is to get a five small stacks of them together plus some rats or cultists for initiative, then if you have enough order and arcane essence (3/3) at the start of the turn you can use strengthen essence on 1-3 of them (depending on your order and arcana skills) and get up to 32 and 16 arcana and destruction essence, which will let you cast arcane storm twice and fireball once, which can devastate an army before it even gets close.

on small maps rats are crazy, especially with "rat hero" - they can rush everything. on large map where you can build final units, and oponents gets final units they probably wont do so good, but on small maps when there is no time to build everything rats are crazy scary
@Sk0lzky2 жыл бұрын
They actually scale in the end game really well, especially if your wielder has some skills in casting in addition to melee offence. Invest research in stack size so they survive the initial ranged attacks and they fold dragons like origami
@gamester512 Жыл бұрын
@@Sk0lzky I love imagining that dragon just standing there all regal, proud, and confident/arrogant in it's power, only for a horde of rats to suddenly swarm over the thing like a horde of locusts and within mere seconds leaving behind nothing but scaly hide and bone (which could then be reanimated as a skeletal dragon via necromancy)! XD The "King of (Fantasy) Monsters" slaughtered by mere rats of all things is hilarious to me, despite the fact that I've always loved dragons (of all kinds, I find mythological dragons to be fascinating just in general, regardless of their specific origin, from Nidhogg in Norse mythology, to Seiryu & Kohryu in Japanese mythology, to the classic European type of dragons). :)

My favorite Wielder in Loth is actually Magnolia. Early game, the economy is great for helping to tech up fast. Late game, her + unit movement stacks nicely with the techs available to the faction that do the same thing. Watching legions zoom the full length of the combat map and kill three units before the enemy gets to act is *chefs kiss*

Thanks for this. Great video, it has served me better than a review in convincing me that I want to get this game. I was on the fence about it, considering the fact that it's pretty expensive for an early access title, but the sheer amount of content for this faction alone seems to make it more than worth the cash. It's also nice to find a youtuber whose voice is pleasant and not grating! Subscribed.

Barony of Loth has some insane strategies: 1. Rat Apocalypse. One stack of blessed bones, one stack of Seneschal and the rest just full stack of rats. 2. Aurelian Sanctum strategy - focus on making stacks of Oathsingers and necromancers with risen / legionaire as a meat shield. 3. Blessed bones / Legionaire swarm.... Focus on swarming your opponent via sacrifice. This is a valid strategy for secondary heroes

I love how much this game reminds me of Heroes of Might & Magic III! I played HoM&M III so much as a kid, both alone and with friends via local multiplayer, and this game looks like a great homage/spiritual successor in much the same way that Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga feels like a Fire Emblem/Ogre Battle hybrid (and for those of you who haven't given Symphony of War a look, I strongly encourage you to do so, particularly as the devs are very active in watching and listening to Steam discussions, and they will often speak up to answer questions within a fairly short time frame, and they have also confirmed that they are already at work on Symphony of War 2).

I'm late but put the rana frog for example with 8 attack 1 attacks means literally 12,5% of attacks boost for unit in the stacks so it's Even more than 12,5, i don't know how much, un early si better flat 1 than 50% more, because they 50 is Made for late Game and flat for early and mid game
@Muenni2 жыл бұрын
@@ivanrojt1862 I'm not quite sure I understand
@ivanrojt18622 жыл бұрын
@@Muenni lets Say that You use an unit with 4-6 attack, but that is the attack of each unit in the stack, so if the unit has 20 members the damage Will be between 80 to 120 (depending of luck), if You have 1 more attacks is 1*20 members so if 20 attack plus and the damage Will be between 100 and 140. If 30% attack the damage is going to between 5-8 damage*20 members and the damage is going to be between 100 and 160. It's depends of the how Many units is in the stack and the base damage or resist they have
@Muenni2 жыл бұрын
@@ivanrojt1862 So when you speak of attack, you mean "offense", right? And that is just a flat damage increase per whole stack? So 1 stack of 100 rats will deal +20 dmg on top of their base damage if they have +20 offense (from the unit itself plus the wielder), while 10 stacks of 10 rats will deal +200 dmg on top - because the bonus is per stack? And then I take it defense is a flat substraction? So can units literally deal 0 damage against high defense? This should really be explained in the game.

I don't know if my answer will help you much, but I will still give you my 2 cents. I love HOMM 3. That being said I am not overly good at it. I've always enjoyed the game as a casual player. I know I am not gonna be any different in SoC and I am playing the game on Easy (right now there are only two difficulties - easy and normal). Safe to say I am still getting comfortable with the game and did a few mistakes. The AI still kicked my ass very hard. The game carries itself on the wave of mostly die-hard HOMM fans and relatively experienced players. If someone is totally new to the genre and wants to try SoC then the game is absolutely gonna murder them and drive them away. At this point in time the game is definitely neither noob-friendly nor beginner-friendly. At least in my experience. I will still continue playing as I like a challenge and I will enjoy learning the game, but I just wished it was a touch easier and that the "easy" difficulty really was easy and not as punishing when making mistakes.

you are really misunderstanding that "helpless" trait.. it's not that enemies can't retaliate them.. it is that THEY cannot retaliate.. its a negative trait.. also in case you didn't know, musician mbuffs stack.. so you can actually have several low stacks of musicians and stack their buffs up for the turn to all your troops, provided you have enough empty slots to spread them into..

That's unique to Arleon! I think it's their minimal ranged defense on top of their melee requirement, so you need to be able to mitigate that damage asap

Barony of Loth has the worst initial units of warriors. They have weak defenses. Only two arrows unit with a short range. The zombie that is spawned at the end of the battle is the weakest unit in the game. If not for the presence of walking legions and armored backbones, then this faction would have been in a really bad place.
