BARRA SWAPPING MY S197!

Finally doing my dream swap and going from one of the slowest 4.0L engines to arguably the fastest 4.0L ever made! Had to stay in the Ford family too. Just not American ford;) Make sure to subscribe and follow my Instagram @skythes197 to keep up with the swap and my plans for the build!

barra is one of the best engines ever, only thing to watch out for is when they're boosted, too much boost too quickly tends to turn the piston rods into spaghetti. unless you have the LPG engine, those internals are stronger. only other thing would be piston rings, again failing with too much boost. but if you can manage boost (dont have a turbo that spools up too quickly) and have a good tune, these things are bullet proof.

Wow you got a lot of work to put in there mate,god that engine has had a hard life,so you can do some 218 B Kellford cams good bit of extra mid range but standard cams are still good,you gunna have to do pistons and rods cause there rooted,oil pump gears and backing plate, be sure to put a heavier spring in the oil pump to,it ups the oil pressure a bit more,quality timing chain,guides and use a ford tensioner there less prone to failure,put a race harmonic balancer on don’t use the standard one,do a new water pump,you will need crow or plazmaman valve springs,also after market head studs,use the bigger washer,the 12 mm head studs are good Timing chain crank sprocket,make sure you gap the rings right,there the main things and you won’t regret it ,these engines kick ass,I have one in my bf Typhoon

Yup I plan on doing everything except for forged rods and pistons for now. I have turbo rods and pistons that are going in for now just so I can have it running and then I plan on doing coyote pistons and forged rods with an over bore because it’ll allow me to run a 9:1 instead of 10:1 compression so I can do more boost

@@skythes197good luck with that mate. You have a early 2002-2004 BA ford falcon NA barra engine there. Only good for maximum 420rwhp on them skinny tooth pick rods. You'll be bending rods in no winding it up pass 450. I'd be 100% doing them now while the motor is out, but car your, your budget. ✌️🤘🇦🇺

Taxi motor is green rocker cover and a gas motor and it would have 400.000 km some have 1.000.000 and no manual taxis in oz

Dang they sold you a taxi motor,.. I live in Perth WA, barraz are $400 here complete running engine.. And the turbo Barra is about 2k but you get everything, turbo, intercooler, ecu, ect… That motor you got is the worst I’ve seen, it’s not a good look for that mafia joint!.. lol I guessed a taxi motor before I heard you say it… Watch that oil pump man, upgrade that asap, they’re known to fail..

Ahhh yep cool cool. You know it’s a killa engine, when they work, they work hard, it’s soo Much power, you’ll out do the streets fairly easy… I know you guys have biiig highways where you race so you’ll get some street use pulling at 1000hp.. 😂 it’s wild… it is a 4.0 2jz..

@@skythes197 I'm looking at one for my FG -- not looking to make huge power, the mounting will be a T3 -- I haven't done a turbo before so trying to understand different mounts, intercooler BOV etc. How did you choose this particular manifold? Looking forward to seeing more of your build.
