Anyone else wonder what happened? Concerts would roll into the local venues almost monthly and ticket prices were so low we went to see them all. Heart one week, Dan Fogelberg another. A huge variety of music, musicians, light shows and stage props. We enjoyed them all. You went through your drawer for a tee shirt to wear and picked from the stacks of bands you have seen in the past.

Napster. Or, more specifically, file sharing. Some take it back as far as mix tapes. Eventually, any of these practices resulted in loss of physical record sales, which (back then) provided the lion's share of an artist's income. Today, hardly anyone buys physical music so bands make up for it by jacking up the price of concerts and merchandise (the only aspects where they control who gets what). In fact, most rock fans feel they should get their music for free (or a Spotify subscription - and don't get me started on those jerks). This phenomenon is less prevalent in other music genres. Surveys and polls bear this out. Gone are record stores, FM station promos, label scouts... remember when it seemed any band with a following would get a record deal? I'm rambling but if you want more detail, check out a guy named Tom Grey who is leading the charge to try and get money from streaming back into the wallets of the artists (you know, the people actually making the content). mixmag.net/feature/brokenrecord-music-industry-streaming-labels-artists-exploitation-equitable-renumeration

In retrospect, Roger Fisher may have been the best rock guitarist I’ve seen live. I saw this show in ‘77 and 13/14 year old me had no idea what I was witnessing. I saw Randy Rhoads next to last show @ the Boutwell in B’ham, I’ve seen Eddie and Ronnie Montrose, and this guy had the same factor the tone , the chops, the presence. This whole band was good live. I just realized where this upload originated, and thank you for sharing this with us. More please -

I remember hearing this at the Seattle Memorial Stadium (outdoor) for the Little Queen tour. That band lineup was off the hook. Heart, Foreigner, Tower of Power, Stephen Bishop and Prism. Concert ticket was $8. Saw them 2 years later New Years Eve 1979 at the Seattle Coliseum with Head East. Head East broke up after this tour. Heart changed direction in the 80s. Its just beyond me that Anne and Nancy don't see the difference between what they had..and what they have now. As time goes on..the legacy will be remembered as "All I want to do.." and not "Mistral Wind". "Tell it like it is" not "Barracuda". There is a marked difference. It's the difference of ART versus commerce. It is Magic versus the Market. While there is still time...They should reconvene. In a rehearsal room. No cameras. No press. Just throw some ideas around. See if there is one last masterpiece left in them. THEN RETIRE. Let the World know: HEART stands up there with the innovative greats. They may have started imitating Tull, Zep and others...but one more masterpiece would prove THEY EXCEEDED THEM ALL.
@sabasufyana3 жыл бұрын
They know the difference. But I have a feeling both Ann and Nancy want to move away from what they created in the past, in their twenties, to do something that's more in sync with who they are now. I think they kinda burnt their fingers doing things they were expected to back in the 80s and just want full creative control at all costs. It sucks for fans but I don't blame them for it one bit
@TheDmonet3 жыл бұрын
@@sabasufyana They are probably tired of hearing how much everything they did sucked after this version of the band died. They have egos and pride in line with anyone else who has had major success. They don't need to reunite...they themselves aren't even on the best terms these days after the tour bus choking drama from 2016. They have fans who will come out to see them play individually whether Roger Fisher is there or not. We all know this version of Heart is the version that put them in the R&R HOF, but they have no personal need to acknowledge or honor that. It's unfortunate for the fans but you have to face reality.

The gift of modern life is the internet and the ability to see any band, any concert, any year. I usually watch the live performances of songs the year they came out. That's when the performers are at their best in presenting a new song to the public live. Like Van Halen live in 1978 or Heart 1976....amazing.
