As a frequent customer of his, I can say that as great as Allen's vids are, they don't do justice to his finished products. The guy is an amazing craftsman, and I ain't blowin' smoke, but am a competitive smoker myself. His work is the real deal and his pricing is lower than anyone's. The only drawback is that a craftsman this good obviously has a waiting list. So put your money down and get on it!

I actually enjoy watching your builds. I've built 23 barrel Grills myself and I'm currently working on my first Smoker... after cutting out the door I kind of wanted to leave it as a sliding door, but it kept scratching on the paint which sucked, so I went with the conventional door but now I'm not feeling it that much anymore lol.. but the build must go on

Pleasure watching you work, you make it all look so easy. If only I could weld I would attempt to make one or something resembling yours but I cannot weld worth a damn.

Nice build Allen. Those tuning plates in there make like a reverse flow smoker. Where the smoke travels under a solid plate down to the other end of the smoker coming out a vent and the stack is on the firebox end. I like the idea of using those seperated plates like that.
@Allensweldingwoodworking7 жыл бұрын
jimgam730 thanks! yes those plates will give you a few heating options, depending on how you move them and if you take any out

Only thing I would change is exhaust exit at grate level whether a collector or not is a big deal. Damn fine work here! I found a barrel completed with a diamond rack grate and stand just no offset box or stack yet for 150.

Why is the vent put at the top of smoker? If it is put at the bottom of smoker the cooler smoke at the bottom would escape and the hotter smoke at the top will stay. Wouldnt it be energy efficient that way?

Hi!! nice work, I just went through your video as I have a barrel too. I imagine that since you made the video you had time enough to test it. I wonder how that thin barrel works out in terms of fuel consumption? does it need lots of wood to keep temperature?
