This was one of the most enjoyable videos of someone talking about their guitars that I’ve watched in a long time. Maybe it was the quiet English accent, maybe it was the amazing vintage Gibsons. Either way, I’d watch this guy talk about guitars all day long.

That 345 reminds me a lot of my beloved black ES-347 of the eighties. These guitars are 'sleepers', 'cause you can get them fairly cheap and in my opinion the 347 is the best 335 type guitar Gibson ever made. Maple neck, ebony fretboard, some other upgrades and it has the single coil switch, so that makes them really versatile. I wouldn't trade mine for the world.

Rock Around The Clock was played on a Gibson ES-300 by jazz guitarist Danny Cedrone. He died shortly after recording RATC and was replaced by another jazz guitarist Franny Beecher who played the same model that Barrie is playing. The whereabouts of Franny's guitar is unknown so maybe Barrie's is Franny's and we just don't know it.

Yes, he wrote it and played it with that very same guitar. There's also a full song by now if you're interested. 'Better Call Saul' by Little Barrie - that's his band. Just perfect, an absolute joy to listen to. Many people think of a les paul as a rock hard machine, but a pair of paf’s can deliver much more than that. I mostly play my lp’s overdriven due to the repertoire of my band, but i enjoy it the most played clean on the verge of breakup at home. With the p90’s you get into the single coil chime land but with a wider spectrum than a fender, not the same thing tho, they have their own stuff going. Most importantly, when a guitarist like Barrie gets his hands on any guitar, the instrument shines at its best.
@j_freed3 жыл бұрын
The gold-hardware guitars up through the mid-60s can have PAFs in one or both positions. The nickel-plated ones dried up in 1962, PAT# s are still great though of course.
@doctordox62783 жыл бұрын
Thats not totally correct. I have a 63 335 with a PAF in the neck. And ive seen many 63's in my time with PAF's, usually just one. But 100% by 64 they were gone
