First of all, very nice shave. That razor is just amazing, I love the new polished look of those old blades. He also does these amazing scales, those make my mouth water but burn a small hole in the wallet.. The soap really looks splendid. You really have that straight shaving figured out. You do moves I could only dream about :) I love my straights and shave way more with straights then with DEs.

Great Video Jack 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Soaps seems to be nice I haven’t tried too many B&M soaps but I’m sure it’s amazing in that New “omnibus” base.. Great to know you are a coffee lover my self too I love esspresso and of course grind coffee fresh everytime.. I can suggest one coffee you’ll truly like is By Zavida Roasters here in Canada Toronto Vaughn they roast them and if Costco is near by where you live they should have it.? My personal is Hazelnut & Vanilla it’s Superb and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it👍🏼👍🏼 Take Care Alan H

I have this soap in the excelsior base. All B&M aftershaves will be only in the Reserve base moving forward. Will said so, somewhere. 👍 Great shave!

Nordost is the most genuine orange scented soap I've smelled. I've never picked up on the smoke, at least not in my Excelsior version, but the orange is legit.

The scent of Nordost smells intriguing. I can't say that I have ever encountered an smoked orange. But, I shall go home and sniff Lucky Tiger and a sample of Ben Franklin to try to approximate the scent.

We're still waiting for Nordost to hit the shelves here in Canada, so I've got the trigger finger locked and loaded. 😄 hopefully I can beat the queue. Also, I may have to pull out a straight and give it a real go. I'm definitely well under a hundred shaves with one, with maybe something close to a 10 shave streak before going back to one of my Shavettes. Oh, and that brush...🔥🔥🔥

They say Omnibus is the best base out there. Is it true Jack? Do you like any Yaqi 2Band badger? I just got one today, it is a 24mm knot low loft (52mm) with Arctic Sky Deep Blue Handle. Damn fantastic.

Ordered this with eigengrau. Should be a nice switch up from the other citrus scents I have which are sonder, kryptonite and frakinlime. Totally agree with your philosophy of simple but well executed scents. Sometimes you just gotta think “KISS” when formulating. Keep It Simple Silly.

I found straight shaving to also be more rewarding, and I felt like I got a closer shave. But, as I got older my eyes got to the point where my face was blurry and and as I got more comfortable with the straight, I got a little careless with the blade. The combination of blindness, and whipping the blade around like I just didn’t care, was NOT a good thing. Back to DE.
