No doubt prices have come down but the economy will get a lot worse before it gets better. $55,000 for a base level/gasser is still a lot of money. In the end investors would rather sell trucks for $1,000 profit vs seeing their multi-billion dollar manufacturing facilities turned off. Bigger rebates are on the way. If you can wait, wait.

I think a lot of people miss this part but the diesel option doesn’t just cost $12,000… because the base truck comes with a 6.8l gasser priced in… When you add an option like a bed liner you don’t give anything up.. but when you option for the diesel you have to give them 12 grand AND a 6.8l gas motor that was already factored into the original price before the 12k price hike

To answer your question regarding why they would order an F250 long bed in that specification instead of a F350 is due to the DOT regulations for medical cards and license class. I know my company does 2500 or F250 because it doesn’t require the driver to have a DOT medical card or a higher license class when they’re hauling certain equipment, so 250 avoids a lot of regulations that put a lot more stipulations on what the driver needs and has to maintain

If the gvwr is 10,001 lbs or more requirements get more strict for commercial use. A F250 doesn’t even help there unless you order it with the gvwr reduced to 10,000 lbs or less. The problem is, by reducing the gvwr the useful legal load is now less than some half ton trucks.

Looking online I've seen up to $13,000 off of Ford superduties. My local dealers don't seem to want to deal much but some dealers out of state have some big discounts especially up in New Hampshire and in Maryland. I've seen some dealers one of which is somewhat local still has 2023 Ford Superduty on the lot and they are not discounted much.

Those prices are absurd. Absolutely no justification. I can't think of a single reason to buy one. Plus the more bells and whistles the more there is to go wrong. If you have more money than you can spend, then I guess it doesn't matter. But if you can't pay cash for it, it better be making you money. First rule of getting rich. Never finance a depreciating asset unless it's making you money and there's no better option. If everyone will just sit back until they have to cut the price in half to get rid of them, we might finally be making some progress.

Some of them have been there for so long they are going to have a birthday on the lot. I never made any commentary on the law of supply and demand not applying . Rather my comment is on the overall economy in which most people have not had pay raises in the last decade (certainly the last few year) anywhere near large enough to support the near doubling of vehicle prices that took place over the same time period. Do you make twice what you did 10 years ago, if so - awesome, if not - neither do the rest of us. SO - the law of supply and demand remains unbroken, price too high, yielding no demand, bringing attempts and discounts and ultimately mfrs having to buy back unsaleable inventory from their dealer networks - the outcome of which will be a few more bankrupt car companies (Stellantis is on the way, others may follow). Supply and demand work just fine.

So I just bought the STX 7.3 f350 in July. Tax title doc fee out the door 69950. I used the savings to do upgrades I wanted as this is the 3d F350 iv owned so I know exactly what I wanted. I bought a 58 gallon fuel tank from Transfer flow. Was a little pricy but they are the only ones who offer a tank that size, put air bags in rear for more payload , swapped out the stupid fixed hub on passenger side dumb thing for Ford to do my opinion upgraded shocks to Blisin shocks all around including upgrade to Dual stabilizer shocks. Added trifold tonal cover nice floor Mats protector in rear for my dogs and Carheart seat covers. All that for 6k more and have a truck set up exactly way I want for still 20k less.

You can get an XLT that comes standard with the 7.3 and has a nicer interior with optional center console for less than an XL STX with the 7.3. And to get the 7.3 in an XL you have to get the STX package which adds $9k to the price.

If anyone can remember when Ford introduced the Platinum package it is only cosmetic that is it. Ford in a Motor Trend article said they was wanting to see what people was willing to spend on a truck for minimal upgrades. It was a test market. The aluminum tailgate panel that holds major dirt behind it used to be on the Lariats until the tailgates got major cancer from the dirt being held behind the panel. Dealer will try and brainwash sheep by telling them the Platinum has a higher resale value lol. Of corse it does because it cost more for absolutely nothing. Whats funny now Ford Swaps the painted panels and chrome options back and forth now between the Platinum and the Lariat. One year a Platinum was last years Lariat and vice versus.

Inventory is piling up because the prices are too high, the quality is subpar, and the dealers have ordered trucks with options people don’t want. I wish I could have ordered an xlt with automatic climate control, adaptive cruise and add the seats and headlights from the platinum. Most of the “driver aids” on the lariat I ended up with are poorly implemented and get in my way more than anything.

I got my XL STX with 6.7 powerstroke for $63,000 I bought a 250 with the 350 springs so my truck can haul the same as a 350 I’m in Michigan. Michigan if you have a 350 you have to have a chauffeurs license to drive the truck and to haul loads up to 26k that’s why so many people favor 250 over 350.

Those empty lots were a big buffer for Ford.. once those trucks land on dealer lots they are “sold” as far as FMC is concerned. The dealers had acres of asphalt to accept new inventory and they weren’t afraid to take it.. but that buffer is about gone so FMC is about to care. Dealers aren’t going to take new inventory if they have no room.

I waited over a year and finally caved. I paid cash for a 2023 F350 Lariat Ultimate pkg/sport-pgk/blk-pkg/off road-pkg in Azure Gray for 82k . The truck is a 4x4 with 20" wheels and 6.7 diesel and 3/4 bed with tough liner and most all of the features except for the bed on-board power and no moon roof. Purchased in Dec of 2023. I compared prices of trucks from Iowa and Texas and I'm in Idaho. The dealer here matched the price of the Iowa truck. They wanted 91k, but I was willing to fly to Iowa to pick up the truck and convinced the local dealer to sell to me. It took 4 visitations to the dealership and hours of bs to get what I wanted. It also earned them 4 stars instead of 5 and they weren't happy about that. If I could have avoided all of the bs and wasted time they would have received 5 stars. I'd say shop around and go buy your truck now!!

I've had a Duramax for the last 10 years, and towed a 12k enclosed trailer daily for my business. Sick of the emissions issues that I can't delete due to being a commercial vehicle... I just switched back to a gasser. The DEF isn't the thing that empties your pocket on a diesel. It's the friggin never ending emissions issues that kill you once you're out of warranty.

I would love to own another F350 Lariat CCLB diesel just like the last one, a low miles cherry '11, that got wrecked. That one had an MSRP of $58K fully loaded in 2011 with a selling price and all fees, no trade of $52K - the same as my 2019 XLT SC, 6' bed with half the fancy stuff and a 3.5 gas engine. If I could find a new Super Duty with virtually the same equipment as the long gone one for $60K or so uot the door, I would step up to it - but not at $90K+. Guess I should have had that '11 repaired as it was not that badly damaged but the ins. company made me kinda well.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, Ordered a 2024 Platinum got full boat for the trade but zilch off the sticker. So, not sure where you folks are finding these rigs but up here in NH and dealers in MA have very little inventory, this applies to both Ford/GMC which I would have ordered either. There is very little on dealers lots, this is my driver and I want it with all the bells and whistles, a choice I make as well folks who don't want the same have options down the family tree, is it expensive, yep 96K to be precise, would I do it again, hell yea I do it about every 3 years. Course I'm self employed and can enjoy a write off, not so sure if I wasn't that rig would be in my driveway. These new rigs drive amazing, both the Ford and GMC, my 21 was nice the 24 just kicks it up several knotchs, is it worth 96K, is anything worth what we pay nowadays, unions demand more money, the cost of doing biz has sky rocketed, materials, labor, and the new tech don't come cheap. This is the new world, if you want it and like it and can afford it you only live once, if you think waiting will make it cheaper, don't hold your breath.

You are right about out of warranty stuff. All this fancy stuff is nice but when you have to start replacing crap.... mannn I bought the wife a suburban premier and all the goodies are great but i cant imagine the cost. I remember buying a 2010 mustang gt premium and it had the first set of led tail lights. The dealer when they were giving ne the walkthrough was like "carefull these are $1200 a piece"

Keep in mind that on the Super Duty’s with the Tremor package the rear diff, leaf springs and shocks are identical on the F-250 and F-350. The only difference is the payload sticker.

Simply put everything way overpriced, I have been looking at ordering from Factory, 1 ton 7.3 XLT Super Duty Dually, with only the options I want with x amount down, and trade in, had monthly payments down to around $500.xx monthly, and no stupid accessories I would not use, and this is before negotiations as I have been watching lots of you Tube Videos on how to negotiate, the key is be willing to walk away from deal,
