I'm considering switching my uf8 for the mk3 as well because the uf8 doesn't work very well with studio one. So i hope that if i would use the mk3, the faders will automatically switch to the channel i select.

I have the first Softube fader, is very good but CPU intensive in my laptop. I usually use it to automate and the turn it off.

You and I are on the same page as far as work flow. I also purchased the Loupedeck CT to handle certain functions in my DAW like jog, shuttle and a few hotkey functions. I'm just waiting for the Console 1 faders to drop! Exciting!

Only thing I have an issue with is the lack of pan cntrls on each channel. My Avids allow me to change multiple pans w 2 hands. Other wise it looks great.

One button switches faders to pan. You can pan 10 faders at once, not just two. 💪🏻💪🏻 Phenomenal gear!

Is it possible to use the fader unit as a dedicated cc controller for orchestral programming? So you can assign a fader to cc1 the next to cc 11 and so on? Also: is there still the track limitation?

Hello Barry, thank you for this video! I just set up my Mk III Fader up but cannot get it to run without plug-in instantiation in Nuendo, as I was led to believe by the marketing referring to Cubase. Are you running Nuendo or Cubase in your studio? If so, are there workarounds to get the device to run system-wide without plug-in instantiations? I find it highly-unusual that Nuendo doesn't run the same way as Cubase, but that is what Softube's tech support told me (!!!).

Thanks Barry for the video. While I am a big fan of Softube and the Console 1 system, the Fader III $999 price tag is a bridge too far for me now. I give Softube credit for providing the $200 discount code to use on the Fader III purchase for those of us who bought the Console 1 Channel MK III at the $899 price. However, they have dropped the Console 1 MK III price by $200 which tells me they overpriced the Console 1 MK III in the beginning. The question now is will Softube drop the Fader III price by $200 once they recover their R&D investment. Unfortunately, the $999 price tag just made my Fader 1 look very attractive, to the point that I simply can't justify the $799 incremental cost for the improvements.

Can’t speak to their pricing, all I can say is that it is in line with competing 8 fader units and this has 10. Avid S1 - $1500 plus you have to buy an iPad. SSL UF8 - $1299 Seems like the Fader One is priced pretty good.

Barry, Great channel! Do you know anyone using the latest version of Cakewalk Sonar / Cakewalk by BandLab with the Console 1 Mk3? I’m wondering if it’s fully integrated with Cakewalk. Some controllers don’t have full functionality with Cakewalk which is disappointing.

Nuendo user here: I also have the Console 1 System (bought the Fader 3 today), and a Loopdeck. And an Avid Dock, like you use to have recently. Did you dropped the Avid Dock for good?

For now yes, I’m going to see if the Loupdeck will suffice, then maybe just do the iPad via Eucon, so time will tell about those.

@@BarryJohns I'm also in this testing mode. Also used the SSL system before, but I sold that one. Now I'm into Console 1, Loopdeck/Streamdeck and Avid Dock. One thing which is still unique to Avid Dock, as I'm working in Dolby Atmos: you got the multichannel panner of Nuendo right into the Dock! Easy to do automation, without having to open the multichannel panner in Nuendo. The same for the inserts and sends, and the control of the great Nuendo channel strip: Eucon still got unique things for Nuendo, which Softube, SSL or Mackie controllers doesn't have!

For me it has been disappointing, the workflow of console 1 is very good, but unfortunately I don't like them and/or I have plugins that I like more than those of softube. I hope that one day they do like SSL uc1 that allows one to load third party plugins, then we will talk about softube again.
