To say Dave wrote this about Cliff Burton is a misnomer. What happened (to the best of my knowledge, and I wasn't there) was that Cliff got the ominous phone call that Cliff had died on the tour bus. It devastated him. He called Diana, his on/off girlfriend for support. She basically ghosted him right there and then. He then broke his dry spell and got high, and THEN he wrote this song, in one sitting. That part is allegedly true. But the song is more about how he got no support from Diana than it is about Cliff, although it's kind of about both at the same time.

early 90s ish, the cotillion ballroom wichita; STP-opening band. end of concert, just got done tearing it up in the pit, house light come up, laughing and walking off floor with some people who was in the pit. the band had just walked offstage and heading for exit, floor level. looked over tapped my girl on shoulder and said hey there's the band. she looks over were just a few feet from them, we all make eye contact and i said "hey, thanks for coming and playing. the whole band abruptly stopped, startled; they all said thanks". it was like that had never happened to them before. this included dave as well. said a few more words and parted ways. humble down to earth fella's they were. love metal music.

New subscriber here Just came across your Megadeth reactions and have binged watched all of them in a row You guys have reacted to 3 out of just 9 songs from the album Rust In Peace. Easily one of the greatest metal albums EVER, and that's not just an opinion. Look up some "Rolling Stone" or "Billboard" type lists. My next suggestion off this album would be the song "Rust In Peace... Polaris" or "Lucretia" Haven't gotten into your Metallica reactions yet but maybe you guys would consider a double reaction video? Metallica Vs. Megadeth? One song Dave wrote while he was STILL in Metallica is called "The Four Hoursemen." He took that song with him when he left and reworked it into " The Mechanix." Maybe a Mechanix Vs. The Four Hoursemen

You should check out a double header reaction of Metallicas 'Four Horsemen' vs Megadeths 'Mechanix' When Dave was in Metallica he wrote various parts of the Horseman song (and is credited), but after he left/was sacked they took the song and melded it into the masterpiece it now is Dave was pissed off he liked his version (faster, very different lyrics and content!), and recorded Mechanix for Megadeths debut 2 songs, pretty much the same chird progression and structure, sounding very different! Enjoy! (PS - check out Helloween, power metal pioneers from Germany and the sound of my youth in the late 80s. Recommend you do their reunion live shows at Wacken from 2017/18 - Keeper of the Seven Keys or Halloween are epic!)

"The So Far, So Good, So What" album doesn't really seem like it gets the props it should, it is a fantastic album. I'm not a very big fan of Chuck Behler's drumming..... lol apparently there is a story that went around, so Nick Menza was Behlers drum tech, and the story goes that Nick went out of his way to sabotage Behler's sound even though I think Nick really didn't need to sabotage his sound, Behlers drumming all on it's own is......meh. Anyway, yes it is a fantastic album just stay away from the remaster, it is absolutely god awful. I also suggest the song "502" as well as "Liar" and definitely the intro instrumental song "Lungs of Hell" which runs right into the awesomely insane song "Set the World Afire".

Nice Transition? Megadeth is all about musical transitioning A great song to point at that has not one riff that repeats itself through the whole song is 5 magics. each verse, every bridge, each Chorus are all unique and singular. The song tells a story about a hero trying to save a woman from a powerful mage and must learn 5 magics to defeat him. One thing you can bet your life on is that any song by megadeth is going to be melodic perfection composed by a musical master easily held in comparison to Beethoven and Bach. That is something that I will also hand to Lars. He may suck as a drummer but he knows how to compose a song better than most.
