Surprise ending---ending on the Dominant (A) rather than the Tonic (D)! Lovely work, reflecting the main stream aesthetic of French Impressionism (Debussy/Ravel). It would be interesting some of the saxophone works were likewise available on youtube?

I dont even know how you with your sexist bias would try to argue in favor of that statement, however, women have historically been neglected in their intelectual and artistic education, have been more or less forced to domestic labors, etc... and in spite of that there have been amazing composers such as Clara Wieck, Amy Beach, Lili Boulanger, C Chaminade, Ethel Smyth, Alma Mahler, and so many more!

Well this isn’t exactly her best work, although not of poor quality it doesn’t exactly hold up to the other larger works for the instrument which happen to be written by men. If you look at her saxophone sonata though, it’s a square competitor with the other major works for the instrument. It kind of boils down to the fact that there weren’t a lot of female composers (a product of sexism at the time) and as a result you have a smaller pool of production, so you get less relevant work by female composers, something which is changing in the modern era!
