I like to do overhead squats as a warmup to deadlift (either conventional or sumo): overtime I try to increase squat depth and decrease grip width on the bar. It gets both your upper and lower body without tiring you. Another option is to do the lighter sets with plates under your feet, which pushes hip mobility; once you get to 4 or 5 plates (or whenever approaching your work sets) go back to normal range of motion.

@mmullane315 жыл бұрын
aaron mack 6 inches isn’t very tall man you should probably see a doctor
@shohikenmv67085 жыл бұрын
I’m 6’3” and I only use conventional because sumo is too difficult in my own opinion. Generating the initial pull off the ground is the most difficult part of the sumo deadlift because your stance is wider, but if you’re a really wide squatter, yeah sure go ahead. Do sumo.
@typer19115 жыл бұрын
I have that problem too. A trick I do is put on the smaller plates on the bar first then put on the 45s last so your toes have a extra space. For example I Usually throw on 2 10s first then load 45 or 35z etc. for the rest. If you need more space just add another 10, 25 or 35. Works perfect unless you only have same size plates like bumper plates.

I wish someone would explain to me what factors determine if someone's proportions favor sumo or conventional.
@maann895 жыл бұрын
Abdulla Al Mutairi there are a ton of videos on this, mostly femur length determines the style you’d feel most comfortable pulling. people with long arms/legs and a short torso would benefit from pulling conventional, > the opposite where short arms and long torso would benefit from pulling sumo. It’s mostly what feels more comfortable for you and your built.
@jlushefski5 жыл бұрын
You can probably figure it out more so by experimentation than by theorizing and self-measuring. Limb lengths, muscle strength proportions, mobility are all going to affect comfort and performance. Sumo tests the glutes more; conventional tests the erector spinae more. A short torso is better for deadlifting in any case, but especially for conventional.
