Great break! It's interesting that with the cue control that you have, you could conceivably plan the whole table and solve all of the tough reds before you even started. I love that Hendry has come to YT, he is such a legend and has so much access to players, I really think he is changing the face of snooker for the better and good on you for coming to the party :)

Wish you were closer mate! I've been playing snooker many years. I used to make 40-50-60, the odd 70 & 80 quite regularly when I was younger. My highest is 96 missing an easy pink to make my first ever century! 🙃😲😔 Anyway, after having kids and a 15yr break away from the game I have joined my local league again and am enjoying the game more than ever. I used to make those breaks on pure potting ability and I had a little bit of cueball control, what I've never been great at is shot choice and how to break build the correct way. I am back potting pretty well when I'm cueing nicely but still struggle with shot choice....as I said I wish you were closer because I honestly believe that once taught shot choice and a few lessons on cue ball control (side shots mainly) that ide be back knocking in regular 50's 60's and on. My goal is to knock in my first century and get my name on the century plack where I play. If I only ever do one tonne I would be okay with that!😉

Curious as to where you would rank your ability in comparison to a professional? I would assume you would do well in amateur tournaments. Only asking as I see and hear of club players who make 100's but they don't make it or try to reach professional level. Is the jump up really that big?
@toziassmitt
@toziassmitt Жыл бұрын
This is from watching various channels, not my own knowledge. I’ve heard that basically on a good day, any good player can make centuries or when things go really well. When a snooker game suits your game, suits your strengths, you’ll do well. But the difference with pros is that they are consistently good at everything across the game. For example break from life has said that literally one of the main reasons he would struggle to compete is that even though his short, safety and escape game is good, his long potting isn’t consistent enough to be able to keep up. Bare in mind that these professionals don’t just, most of the time, make the long pots - they do that in games. They do that when they get 1 shot and 1 shot only. No video edits, no 2 or 3 attempts. To be able to make those 90% of the time in a game (which you need to do to be competive) you have to be making those 99% of the time in practice. Then, apply that same logic to every shot, to positional plays, to safeties. Then add in the mental game- are you creative enough to see shots? Can you play under pressure? Can you play for hours? The mental has to match the physical and you have to have that drive. All this, and I’m sure I’ve only scratched the surface. I’m sure there’s way more, but I think you can begin to see why even someone who can get a century still wouldn’t even be able to compete 👍🏻
@musicbro8225
@musicbro8225 Жыл бұрын
@@toziassmitt Agreed. Even when they are having trouble getting warmed up, their B game is not going to let their opponent in because at the pro level you need the mentality that if you let your opponent in they will clear the table. Understanding the risk V reward of shots which is different for each player since they have different strengths and weaknesses. Mentality is huge I believe and for that mentality to be fluent and consistent under extreme pressure... Most tournaments if you make one rushed decision or end up over thinking a situation, that may well be the end of the tournament for you :)
