Love the videos, and the stream when I can make it. I do have a suggestion that should be able to increase your airlock cycle speed. Right now you are capped at how much gas can pass through the passive vent along with the limted amount that can store just in pipes. Either adding inline tanks or a storage tank will increase how much can be stored in the pipe network letting the vents work more effectively. Then increasing the passive vent afterwards just allows the system to equalize with the outside quicker. You could even use this as a passive atmosphere capture system with a one way pressure valve that feeds the waste tank.
@Flipsie3 күн бұрын
Yep, my plan was to put some inline tanks and a pressure release on either side to keep the pipes primed with a few MPa. Hopefully it'll speed things up enough that I don't need to add extra vents 🤞

Apogee and Id software, no Keen involved, as far as I know. Although it was before my time, I'm still kinda sad they dropped the series (I can't imagine a 3D Commander Keen game though). There are some amazing mods the community keeps creating to this day, you should check them out. Atroxian Realm is extremely impressive and the Aurora Bliss series has some amazing art.

I was hesitant to use the combustion centrifuges until recently. They don't use as much fuel as I thought they would and they're WAY faster. If RPM is directly proportional to centrifuge processing rate they're 5.3x faster with Vol+O2 fuel and maybe faster still with Vol+NOS. The IC10 programming for it was fun too. Hint: *** spoiler spoiler spoiler, stop here, ok is that enough space before the spoiler? *** Throttle inversely proportional to Stress and Combustion Limiter proportional to RPM seems to work nicely. Also I'm not sure what the max inventory is because I got to like 1200 and became impatient. Plus that's a big batch of stuff to deal with. I dump it at 500 or 1000 now.

Multiple Antennas do not "work together" to boost power. What you can do is have them in different directions, and you select which one you wish to use. So it saves on the waiting time to rotate them

have you looked into using the winterspawn plant to assist with your gas cooling as it uses N2 instead of CO2 and produces cold O2 and Volatiles?

I haven't had a trader with any of the fancy plants, I'm guessing I need to have a bigger landing pad to get them, so I haven't really looked at them. I didn't realise there was one that provides cooling

@@Flipsie yeah i guess its the luck of the draw with traders haha, but is worth a look once you see them. I've found when it comes to airlocks, using the utility tanks to pump the airlock gasses into was much faster than into/outof vents, with a backpressure regulator as a safety valve incase it some how overpressure. not a problem when your base is up and running but like me my atmo is slowly increasing over time and temp changes inside can cause a slow buildup.
@Flipsie7 күн бұрын
Yeah having pressurised tanks helps a lot, I think for the size of airlock I built it might be good to have both an extra pair of vents and the pressurised tanks, but I'll start with the tanks to see if that helps enough :)
@johnyoung77147 күн бұрын
Idea for you spits, when or if you rebuild you runway a good place would be on the roof off your battery room especially if you want to build a pressurised it as it will be near your living quarters!
I know you mentioned that you planned to supplement the airlock with pressure tanks to help with the pressure differential, but the other thought I had is could there be something funky with the actual game code that makes them behave weirdly when they live across a world cell boundary and it is trying to juggle which one has priority to empty from first causing it to slow on emptying?
@Flipsie5 күн бұрын
Interesting thought, I'll see if I get time this week to test it
@AnonNopleb7 күн бұрын
Sadly, no pressurisation yet. Would a big powered vent help with the large airlock cycling time?
@Flipsie7 күн бұрын
It's already using a pair of big powered vents. The pipe system is too low volume I think, so it might be faster just with a simple bunch of inline tanks even if I still leave the passive vent on the outside

I assume that there aren't enough areas that can be sectioned off from the main corridors?: -- The Cooling (and battery) section is something that you'd need to be in less than once per stream - as long as you have a window to see the batteries through. (8)x(5)x1=(40) cubes. -- The gas handling room would be something that doesn't need to be accessed more than 3-4 times per stream - if you moved/duplicated the waste tank and oxygen refillers in the corridor. 13x7x6=546 cubes now 19x7x6=798 cubes soon. -- The lower maintenance corridor is something that you only go through to get to the composter room. But sectioning it off with airlocks would be a pain. (24)*3*(2)=(144) cubes. -- The upper corridor is in the top 2 items on the list of spaces that you'll want to get pressurized. 20*3*2=120 cubes. -- The production room is also in the top 2 items on the list of spaces that you'll want pressurized. 8*7*2=96 cubes. Were you aware of the rough sizes, Splitsie? Especially that the sum of all to-be-pressurized spaces with the exception of "only" the gas handling room is 400 cubes? Versus 540 or 800 for the gas handling room? What are your thoughts on sectioning off areas and using manual airlocks? Any gases that go through would just be early contributions to future pressurization. But I assume you wouldn't want to fight the blast of air when you go from the sectioned off to the main parts of the base? (Values in parentheses are from memory.)

Doesn't the suit storage pull gas out of the waste tank? It would at some point over pressurize itself? I do not know, I always hooked up the pipes :/

Would it be worth expanding the main airlock and fitting an O2 and waste station?
@Flipsie6 күн бұрын
If I can't get things pressurised soon it might be worth having them there, but if I go for pressurising the base, then I can use the suit storage for that function :)

Would it be worthwhile to move the wind farm on top of the base?
@Flipsie6 күн бұрын
In terms of freeing up space on the ground, yeah, but in terms of power production, no. Stationeers doesn't model much of anything complicated when it comes to wind turbines, it's a sinusoidal curve that it follows on regular days, then increased power during storms and that's about it

I have had a job that has me around kids for the last several years and since they are not allowed to say "ass" at school I have modified "Brain Fart" into "Human Moment". Does Splitsie get more income from me watching this here on KZbin or on Twitch if I don't catch it live?

If you like fewer ad breaks and higher video quality, then watch it here on YT. If you like having the chat alongside then watch it on Twitch. I just had a thought though, I wonder if someone's worked out how to turn twitch chat into a subtitle track... that way there would be an optional 'chat' overlay for the videos I upload here

37:18: I'm fairly sure the only reason it isn't an issue is because lawyers are expensive, and Keen #1 has concluded it's not worth their while. It definitely could count as trademark infringement. Your own videos contain plenty of evidence the two companies are similar enough to cause confusion, which is what an infringement case requires. They're also both based in the EU (Czechia vs. Germany), so it's not like it would be unenforceable. But, it costs a small fortune to fight, and even if they win there's no guarantee they'll come out ahead.

From what the people at RW have said, the sale has nothing to do with them, but it doesn't mean that the purchaser isn't going to try to sell off each piece of IP on its own and give them a chance to purchase it later. Though at this stage, I'm not sure they'd want to, the KSP brand has been badly damaged by Take 2 and could be easily seen as being handed a grenade without the pin
@annastasyakova91142 күн бұрын
