The Allegheny river runs through our small (very) city. We're 15mins. away from the Pa. border. I have been through the Allegheny National Forest at night a few times. That place is mysterious. We were headed to Maryland , my daughter was driving. What I thought I saw for a fraction of a moment was a native American of days-gone-by just at the edge of the tree line. That could have been fall foliage hanging on but it was the month of May. I said "What The H*ll Was That??? Her response was" Some @#*%\@ trying to blind me with his high beams. She didn't notice what I did. After listening to this story, makes me wonder that I did infact see what I thought. Hmmmm?

I live in western NY a little over an hour north of the Allegheny National Forest I like just driving, especially when my new born cannot sleep. I often end up in the ANF. It is so beautiful. The trees or this time of year the snow. But do not get caught there in the night it is so DARK. My drive back home in the dark is very creepy. But I like it!❤

As I am living in the Rocky Mountains and in a forested area, these stories are making me very aware when I go out to feed the birds in the morning before sunrise. We have a tray feeder and, before putting in nuts and sunflower seeds, I often have to bang the trays against our deck railing to dislodge the snow. Bang bang like that. I'm suddenly wondering if one morning I'm going to get a reply from somewhere out in the woods. LOL Thank you, Chris. Love your stories!

I was a Girl Scout when I was younger did some fishing with my dad up in Mercer Wisconsin and Silver Lake in Wisconsin Horseback riding in Texas at my aunt's house. @@astro-blaster4190 Cool! I'm looking forward to it. I spent most of my time in the Westline area. I knew a lot of old timers and locals and nobody has ever mentioned any encounters. That doesn't mean they haven't had one. My dad and his friends probably wouldn't have said anything if they did. This story told by Chris reminds me of the terrain and fire roads in and out of Westline. Even the creeks that follow the roads.

Awesome story Chris! We were actually down there (Alleg.) a couple years ago (2019) backpacking and camping. Don't know exactly where yer story occurred but we were in the Minister Creek area. Funny thing is I recently head of a bigfoot sighting at that very campground that happened shortly after we were there! We didn't have any negative interactions with wildlife though, other than the deer ticks! Of which there were many. There is also a little country (redneck) bar there called "Cougar Bobs". We thought that was kinda cool so we went there for lunch and few beers. Keep the stories coming Bud, they are awesome!

I live 40 min. from the ANF and we go camping alot to Tracey Ridge campground.. One night in Dec 2021 we were camping their before the park closes the campgrounds. Noone else was in the campground and we were up in E loop camping, we heard this strange scream saturday night while having a fire, my shepherd with us was so scared that she wanted to go back in the trailer , so we put her in and then we went in ourselves because it started to rain a bit.. Around 12:45 pm while we were sleeping we were woke up by something moving our 7000 lb trailer back and forth, we were really scared, saw nothing outside and had a very hard time going back to sleep. The next morning we saw no tracks at all because it was pretty dry and nothing fell on our trailer like a limb so we know what happened to us .. We were sure it was a bigfoot as no bear can rock a trailer that heavy back and forth... We camp their alot are we know their are many sightings in the area. So be wearey people if you go out their as they are their.

@@JovandogI do not doubt your experience, as I've lived in the deep woods of Pennsylvania my whole life. You'd be surprised what these bear can do when they want to. A couple of years ago a bear was breaking into houses and ripping out the pipes for water. They're really good at breaking into buildings, vehicles and are notorious for how much damage they can quickly do. An adult bear on it's hind legs definitely could rock a camper around. In fact, they're very familiar with campers being at camp sites where they go to each night searching for food. No doubt about squatch, but the bear don't care.
