My house is surrounded by forest on three sides and a pasture on the fourth. I regularly see a variety of wildlife out here, including coyotes, foxes, raccoons, possums, deer, armadillos, and the occasional bobcat. It’s not uncommon to hear the howling of coyotes, especially late at night. I also hear other wildlife. A few times I’ve heard the howls of an animal that I can’t identify. It’s unnerving. A few nights ago, late at night, I needed to escape the confines of my house where the heating has dried out the air so badly that I couldn’t breathe. I went outside to my front porch for a breather of fresh air. The front outside lightbulb is burned out, so after shining my cell phone light to make sure a rattlesnake or copperhead wasn’t there, I settled down to enjoy the frigid temps and night sky. That didn’t last though because out of sight, around the corner of the house came a huge and scary roar. I hauled myself back in very quickly! For the next twenty minutes or so the house was pelted with rocks and/or acorns. PS: I live in the Texas outback. Lol

Snakes don't come out when it's cold but I've heard coyotes and turkeys make weird noises. Did you look on the roof? In Fla we notice many things use our roof for sleeping, for a highway, a hang out joint. Bats make their way into attics and give birth.

Base Camp Chris is a true renaissance man… Just one of his myriad talents: Excellent use of background music, Really adds to the story listening experience, he knows just when to bring creepy music to the tale, and more importantly, when NOT to, no manipulative drowning of the listeners in needless crescendos and stabs of music, just perfect timing to bring a mood on so the hairs on your arms stand up… A very rare talent.

That was one of the scariest stories yet, especially as I live next door in New Hampshire! I've kayaked on lakes in Vermont - Harriman and Somerset reservoirs, the latter being completely surrounded by the Green Mountain National forest. Stunningly beautiful state. I remember paddling towards the northwest side of the Somerset reservoir, intending to land, when I noticed a huge 'tree trunk' 8 to 10 feet tall, dark in appearance. Being aware of bigfoot sightings in the state I hesitated to proceed further, ultimately turning around. This coming summer I plan to go there again and determine if it was just a tree trunk.

Sounds like Bigfoot activity to me. Put up some motion sensor lights and a couple of trail cams. According to the experts this will deter them. Pay attention to see if things change, do the lights and cameras get messed with??? As long as they aren't being aggressive, as some are, you may not have anything to worry about. You may have to contact the bfr for help. Do you have livestock, chickens, goats, or cows??? Your pets actions should clue you in. Good luck and be careful, especially after dark.

I’m from Vermont and many places in the local forests are very creepy, especially up north. Some people have reported seeing skin walkers and Bigfoot and dog men deep in the woods. I’ve had my own experiences, me and a friend were parked by the woods, smoking a bud and both of us saw a huge blue orb hover in front of our car and then fade out into nothing. It was no firefly because it was the cold season.

Wow, another great story. Can you imagine what that would be like! I've been listening to Hairyman stories for years now and am convinced the evidence is there to substantiate them. I would not be too excited for an encounter for myself! There is certainly a growing acceptance of these creatures from those who lack an actual encounter. The encounters, the tracks, the details, it's just too similar across the country and world. There certainly is not a lack of encounter stories now that people feel more comfortable sharing them. Thanks, Chris, for sharing them.

A little weird at the end??? It was weird all way long.... nothing made sense. I do hope that his grandfather did die from this.

Great story here ! I’ve noticed that in most cases that people either decided to move slow or deliberate after eye contact, something primal from ancestors when dealing with these beings perhaps? Chris have you had any recent encounters on your hikes? What do you think you would do ? Thanks again for the stories and have a great week!

HI CHRIS. Your stories always leave me scared shitless! 😱😱🥺🥺 If ya know what I mean. The scariest part is that I believe they are true stories! I've always loved the woods but not always what lurks in the woods! Be safe brother. I CARE ABOUT YOU AND SO DO A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE! ALWAYS CARRY A FIREARM AND BEAR SPRAY WHEN YOU GO FOR A TREK IN THE WOODS! I MEAN EVERYONE NOT JUST CHRIS! LOVE & BLESSINGS TO ALL! PEACE. 👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩😊😊😊🤪🤪🤪👍👍👍

You are most welcome young man! 🤣 I think you're about my age? I'm 62 but I know one thing. You are in great shape mentally and physically for your age. I walk and hike too year round but here in southeast Michigan there are no mountains so I'm on level ground. The resilient way you trek up and down all those mountains and desert landscapes never ceases to amaze me! God bless ya sweetheart! 👍👣😊🐾🥳👣👍🐾🪵🌵🌻🌳🌺🌲🌼⛰️🍄🏜️🌵🏞️🪴

I would have had heat on me.. this old army salt shoots first and I ask questions later. I'm in danger my enemy is in danger. Real quick. Sounds like a story for a boy scout campfire. Like I said I was on the D M Z IN KOREA WITH A TOUGH UNIT.

Hi Chris, great story, once again. Like to hear the back story to this. Looks very scenic, the forest looks peaceful to a point but there are dangers in forests such as weather conditions, wildlife, cougars, bears, and other humans such as strangers that are out in the wilderness and of course other beings, perhaps a (sasquatch)🌲🦉🐻 🦍

We heard that 5 days ago that they are banning people from filming for KZbin in national parks across America, with ridiculous rules as exemptions. Has any of this affected your work in any way? Its terrifying to think of. Part of me wonders what this scheme is really about.

I like very much stories that take place in cabins. Somehow I feel protected by thinking I'm inside the cabin while listening to the storie.
