15:20 I am also the same way with the modern Simplex voice evac whoop because that is what my school uses. Even if I hear something that sounds remotely similar, it grabs my attention for a split second until I realize what it is. I feel like the sound that someone recognizes the most as a fire alarm will grab their attention the fastest.

Those are the same fire alarms at a movie theater and hospital I went to. The only time I heard one of those in person is when the ones at the hospital falsely activated assuming it may have been something to do with a microwave in the cafeteria that went to a smoke detector and detected it activating the whole system. Took like 90 minutes until they shut the system off after the fire department arrived. Atleast it wasn't loud and screechy like a horn strobe(ig, Gentex commander 3 and 4).

In my Intermediate school, we had the same sound and voice message, but instead of Gentex Voice evac, we had white Specteralert Advance Speaker Strobes. Instead of Fire lite bg 10s, we had Notifire by Honeywell bg 12s.

These have to be the strangest design choice for fire alarm devices ever. Probably the orientation of the fire lettering wouldn’t be up to code today, unless, as you say, the alarm was mounted on the floor which would be a whole other level of wrong.

I don’t think you understood the comment. He was saying that because potter rebrands gentex, IF that message was playing from a real system it would likely be from a gentex speaker strobe, which is correct. The message is not notifier, it’s the potter EVAX message. Hope this helps.

They’re more or less universal devices. You can find them on all the Honeywell brands and also Potter and maybe Mircom alarm systems. Their main competitor is Eaton/Wheelock, which are compatible with the same brands plus Simplex. The closest thing to a “Notifier” device is probably a System Sensor product, as they are owned by Honeywell, but Gentex and Wheelock are almost as common on Notifier. I also see a lot of Silent Knight systems with Gentex in my area.
