Brandon two points i disagree with. One- i usually hate the seats on bikes at the gym and prefer normal bicycle seats, but I love the seat on this bike. And Two- it is totally underrated for endurance work. Once you master holding a certain cadence by the tempo of your feet and sound of the fan, it is just about exactly like every other cardio machine out there. I absolutely love this thing and use it for HIIT, LISS, and warmups. Like it more than ever cardio machine the gym has to offer. And it is so unlikely to break down or require maintenance! And i can exhaust myself even quicker than with a prowler! Built my home gym this year and this was the superstar purchase.

I was wondering this. I was told about this bike by a friend of mine who is a cyclist and said instead of getting a stationary bike to look into these. I know everyone states that they are good for HIIT and warm ups but if I want to ride it for 30 mins I am sure it is solid due to YOU having to put in the work to move it. I mean that sounds like a brutal and in the end the result you want. A machine that gives what you put in it. I primarily trying to burn fat and get rid of stomach fat. Sorry for the rent just looking for some info.

Here's what's missing from this review. Heart Rate Monitoring. Very important consideration. Steady state cardiovascular exercise, in a 70 - 75 range over 35 minutes. For me, at 60 - around 118 bpm, wearing a Polar chest strap. I've lowered my blood pressure dramatically. All lipid blood levels have improved. At that pace, I ride 10 miles a day. I'm extremely damp when I'm done, and none of my 60 y/o joints hurt. Please don't steer people away from steady state on the Rogue. For the money, it will outlive most people who will use it this way. You can will it to a loved one. Thanks for reading.

For those of you who have this and the bike erg, what makes the bike erg better? Genuinely curious. I currently do both steady state cardio and HIIT on the echo. When doing low intensity steady state, I'm not moving as fast but my heart rate is still at 130bpm which is why I'm doing it in the first place. I'd consider upgrading to the bike erg if it does something the echo can't.

i would never sell mine, but your review is pretty accurate in terms of how it "feels" like it wants to be used, if that makes sense. This really isn't a great bike for low RPM ride or something you are going to stay on for an hour, though I have done it. The Concept 2 Bike Erg is way better for this and it has bluetooth so you can use it with riding games/apps like Zwift. The one comment I will make vs something like the peleton, is that all that tech can be very frustrating when you're trying to get a quick workout in and it wants to do updates or just has an issue in general. I lost count of how many times my high tech treadmill delayed my work out 20 minutes to do something like this. Also, brands like Concept 2 will have replacement parts for years if not decades. If you have an issue with a Bowflex treadmill, you will be lucky if they have the part in 3-4 years, as they will have moved on in producing newer models (can't speak for Peleton, but I suspet it will be similar). The basic design on the Concept 2 Rower, for example, has not change in decades. But i agree with the sentiment of what Brandon is saying- if you only have a budget, space, or desire for a single piece of cardio equipment, this is probably not the best choice.
@kevinmach7302 жыл бұрын
I forgot add one other good point he made. When covid hit and the waitlist for these things was over two months and gyms were closed, I bought a Schwin AirDyne 2 for like (AD2} for like $399 at Dicks Sporting Goods. It's not nearly the build quality or resistance as the Rogue, but it gets the job done and not at all a bad machine. I put a decent amount of time in on it and when the Echo arrived we took to our cottage where it still gets used today. If you don't want to commit 800 bucks to a one trick point (or space, because the Echo is quite big compared to other bikes), there are other acceptable options.
@BasementBrandon2 жыл бұрын
Really good feedback! From my experience that hasn't been an issue with the peloton yet after a year of using and riding every day. Updates usually happen in off hours so hasn't impacted me yet... fingers crossed!

You mentioned everything you do on the air bike you can do on the peloton. Unless you’re pumping hand weights, which to me feels clumsy on the peloton, how are you getting good arms/upper body intervals?

So I sold my Ironmasters for just under MSRP at the height of covid, where others were selling them for 2x. I'm pretty open to negotiating as well, or if people say they like my channel I'll usually knock money off lol. I figure I get my use out of items and if they go to a good home I don't mind losing money on them as I'd rather sell quick and easy.

My issue with stationary bikes is I dont have a butt, and my bottom starts to hurt a lot after only 20 minutes. It has nothing to do with the seat or padding, its the riding position. If you're vertical, all your weight is coming down on the saddle. On a road bike, you ride more horizontal, with better weight distribution. I can ride comfortably for 2 hours on a saddle with almost no padding on my road bike. Stationary bikes, I can get the saddle the right height, but the handlebars are too close and too high. Less of an issue for shorter riders.

Great review! Super glad you mentioned Peloton at the end because I’m thinking about getting one for my wife and me to use. My wife wouldn’t use an Echo or fan bike if I ever got one. Would you do consider doing a review or providing thoughts on Peloton? I’d appreciate your perspective as someone who mainly lifts but wants to get some regular/consistent cardio into my routine.
@BasementBrandon3 жыл бұрын
I def will, I'm behind on videos so not sure when. Bottom line for us it it's been a great investment. I end up riding it just as often as my wife (every day), but just not as long. I typically only use it for 5-10 min as a warm up before training days and save my actual long rides for the weekend. She loves it too and has really helped kick start a normal gym routine for her. I will say it's pricey and you could prob do most of the same stuff on a cheaper set up/bike. But it's one of those things that the UI is so well done it really makes the experience.

@@BasementBrandon thanks so much for the reply. That’s exactly why I want it. I’ve never had luck sticking to a cardio “method” but I did enjoy doing some @GCN classes on a spin bike at a local gym when I was going and the Peloton classes are much more engaging, versatile, and “gamey”. It’s definitely pricey but if it gets you on a consistent routine then it’s a great investment like you said. I’ve been 90% sure about getting one and getting a lifter’s perspective like yours is really helpful so thank you, thank you again for the response.

@@BasementBrandon which one burns the mist calories and has benefits for more muscles? A rowing machine? And what is a good cardio machine?
@monkeyb18203 жыл бұрын
I've played with a lot of different cardio things, I used to be a fast (for recreational) runner and biker, then had a permanent change of health where I became not as fast (muscles and cardio fatigue more quickly than used to be the case). I got a used Elliptigo longstride and it's been awesome. I never did ellipticals, but this is an elliptical bike, which makes it more fun. While travelling, I've used a nice hotel elliptical (with a monitor to stare at sort of like you're doing an actual mountain hike). That was ok too--but getting outside on the Elliptigo is more fun. I've lost 18 lbs (pretty much all I needed to lose) just using it for an hour, 5 or 6 days per week, and eating normal sized meals, not overeating. I have also had a C2 rower for 10 years, but don't use it as much as I used to. I'll still do some intervals on it here and there, particularly on really cold/wet days. C2 rower is a great piece of equipment, holds its resale value pretty well if you get tired of it.

Would you recommend this over and elliptical? I'm wanting something primarily for conditioning
@redwhiteandblueblood3 жыл бұрын
The elliptical is my favourite cardio piece at commercial gyms, but I only go about twice a month these days on back days for lat pulldowns/cable back exercises as I invested in a basic functional home set up and don't have a lat pulldown or high/low pulley yet, but I do have an Echo as my main cardio piece. If you're looking for conditioning/HIIT stuff I'd go with the Echo (a Skierg would probably be good too), as Brandon says it is a good warm up tool which is what I use it for mainly too, I'm alot bigger than Brandon too (I'm 6"5 1/2 and over 300lbs) so the durability and build of the Echo is a prime factor of my purchase also. Longer steady state cardio I'd go the elliptical (I walk around my suburb for my steady state these days). You can do steady state on the Echo for 15-20 minutes but I feel you have to go slow at first and pace yourself into the session, I feel if I go too hard too early I'll burn out, so for the first 5 minutes I'll stay under or around 150 watts, then work up to around the 200 mark and maintain it. I haven't gone over 20 minutes continuously yet on this though, normally 2-3-4 sets of 5-10-15 minute intervals is plenty for me when I am getting a bit of cardio in. Hope this helps
