Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo versus Jacky Phamotse

This week the Randburg Magistrate's Court handed down judgment on the Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo versus Jacky Phamotse legal battle. Phamotse was found guilty of criminal defamation and contempt of court for comments she made about the Kumalos on social media and in her book. She was sentenced to 2 years house arrest, a R30,000 fine or a 10-month prison term. Donda Attorneys director Melusi Xulu unpacks social media and defamation.
