Great scenery. Sorry to see you had issues with the rain. I find vaseline works well as a barrier and prevents trench foot. Apply every 10 miles or so and the worst effects can be reduced significantly.

If I had took my gaiters like I originally planned then I would've been fine. Lesson learned there I suppose. Didn't know about the vaseline trick, thanks for the advice. Thanks for watching. Atb Shaun

Looked like a productive use of the hotel room but I am with you on the heat, really saps my energy but that was a great walk through the valley and good to hear you were starting to enjoy the walk. I did the walk 'from Patterdale' to Grisedale Tarn and then up to St Sunday Crag and always a nice pint in the White Lion, which I never miss - never been in the Patterdale hotel. I did my first ever wildcamp at Angle Tarn about 2 years ago and I love that part of the Lakes, especially up Place Fell, which was right next to you on the way to the tarn. Good to see you seemed to have the tarn to yourself, unusual there, normally real busy. Shame about the rainy morning and wet tent again and a real good call on getting a B&B with hot breakfast - those feet did not look good mind! Cheers Alan

I enjoyed my wild camp at Angle Tarn Alan, at least until the rain in the morning anyway. It was very idyllic, there were a few tents on the other side but well enough away to make it feel like I was alone. The feet weren't too bad after a days rest, still a little painful but considerably better than they were. Thanks for watching. Atb Shaun

You hit lucky with those views, but by god not the weather. That chippy you were talking about must be the most KZbin mentioned chippy in the UK, every film I've seen of this walk has a stop off there. Looking forward to the next instalment.

The views were special. It was a rather nice chippy to be fair, especially after a long walk in the wind and rain. Thanks for watching. Atb Shaun

Nice one Shaun thanks for the mention! Top fish and chips in Shap. Yeah never go nowhere in Britain summer or winter without Seal Skins socks! atb :-)

No problem mate. Yeah they're some lovely fish and chips, I did get some just didn't Record any of it. Yeah I knew I would regret not taking the gaiters, stupid decision. I thought I would get away with it as my boots are "Goretex", but they both seem to have some holes around the edges as that is were the water was squelching in from. Oh well, lesson most definitely learned. Thanks for watching. Atb Shaun

Another excellent episode when you say that certain parts of the walk are the hardest I found they were all hard this is when the positive mental attitude kicks in you just have to keep going , (i hate to say this shaun but I did say you'll need your gaiters a must piece of kit ) I'm still convinced that this is the hardest of the listed walks and I said the same as you if I didn't see another mountain it would be to soon going through the lakes but that only lasted a couple of weeks before I was back on the fells again I've known a couple of friends of mine chuck it in after the lakes they were absolutely knackered, enjoyable video as always shaun thanks for sharing
@BASHADweller4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know, I know, you did tell me and if I'm honest, I knew it was a mistake and I would regret it. Oh well, lesson learned the hard way. I won't be doing that again, gaiters or gortex socks from now on. I never thought I would be glad to see the back of the Lake District, but I'd never been happier to get it out of the way. I'll be back there though, its too nice to stay away and I still love a good mountain. Thanks for watching. Atb Shaun

'Noisy pricks.' I can't stand mad noisy people where it's peaceful either Shaun and I was like it when young. Any way bags awesome views and peace on trail apart from your screaming feet at the end. Ouch! Hope your socks work. Mark

I knew I would reget not taking the gaiters but I still left them! lol. I probably would've been alright if my 'Goretex' boots were actually bloody Goretex. No water got in from above the boot it was squelching in from the were the boot meets the sole, I could feel it. Oh well, I will listen to my gut next time and take the bloody gaiters :) Thanks for watching. Atb Shaun
