Eric shooting from prone reminds me of times past: I had some visiting snipers come by from Ft. Benning, GA. We had a suppressed kid's rifle made by CZ, and Russian subsonic .22 LR ammo from the Tula, Arsenal. One of the snipers laid down in the clay and shot targets with that little toy rifle. It was amazing what he could do with that little thing.

Thanks you making this video. I really enjoy building AR rifles from PSA kits and USGI parts. I just added a JP Enterprise 4 lb spring kit to the triggers of both of my rifles. While I had everything apart, I polished all of the contact surfaces with 600 and 1000 grit paper until I had a "chrome-like" finish. While not a custom 'high-end" trigger, this really improved the trigger feel and operation. Thinking of adding a scope since my eyes are not getting any younger.

Shooting irons is such a necessary skill. I just put together an AR with a 16-inch barrel, free floated, with a Geiselle G2S trigger and flip up irons and maaaaaan I was shocked at how accurate it was. 2-3 inch groups at 100 yards all day. At 200-300 I could hit 6 inch plates pretty much on command. It’s a whole different kind of satisfaction when you hit a target at distance with iron sights or a red dot
@243Outdoors8 жыл бұрын
You need to add some wind socks to the range to help read the wind.

Dabkilla thanks ! don't own a gun but I enjoy the channel .
@Pottan237 жыл бұрын
layman speak one minute (or one moa) is 1" per 100 yards so 3" at 300. If I understand correctly at 5:02 when he says 7.1 minutes it means he will hold 7.1 x 4" (because it's at 400 yards) high.
@ParadigmUnkn0wn6 жыл бұрын
Minute of Angle. It's 1/60th of one degree. Which is conveniently almost 1 inch at 100yds, or roughly 2" at 200yds, and so on. There's no multiplication for the called hold, when they say 7 they really mean 7MOA. I have no clue what Pottan23 meant by 7.1 x 4", that isn't a hold. Scopes are typically marked in mils (milliradians, the metric angular measurement) or moa (minute of angle). Scopes will have either lines or dots precisely marked on the reticle (i.e. "crosshair" in layman's terms). So you can do a hold over, using those markings. Or you can dial that into the turret (i.e. adjustment knob on top the scope) so elevation isn't a concern and just hold to either side for wind, again using the markings on the reticle for reference. Or for an actual precision shooting rifle it's not uncommon to dial in windage and elevation into the turrets.
@olivialambert41246 жыл бұрын
He meant 7.1 MOA at 400 meters makes for 28.4 inches high.

it's interesting how little of the story the group tells. We saw a .3 inch improvement at 100, but what was hit or miss in the last video seems like a chip shot this one. It may be a bit much to do it on every video, but a montage of shooting progress would be awesome. Like trying to get on the gong at 300 versus ringing it at 600 even fighting the wind. I'm loving this series already.

This is great stuff, thank you for taking the time to show your audience. A quick question - was the ammo tested blind (only the observer aware of what was being fired)? I ask as it could be that the shooter's belief/knowledge of how the ammo typically performs may affect their shooting of said ammunition. Of course the knowledge that the parts are changing may also be affecting things at a similar level, but there's no hiding such changes from the IV8888 team - they would be able to tell if a part's been replaced!
