With PSA selling AR bundles, it is a great time to get into ARs. Shoot almost 10yrs ago you couldn't even make a decked out AR for no less than $1000. PSA changed the game along with their budget handguns its a win win for "We The People".
@vicerichter1163 Жыл бұрын
Lol kid u is tripping hard. Lmao. 10 years ago. Everything was actually cheaper. DPMS panther rifles were going 350-500 a pop. S&W mp15's were like 400-500 and some had scopes and iron sights. Alot of good AR's were like 400-800 bucks and all were 1MOA guns at 100m The only thing that wasnt cheap was usually lights, red dots and scopes tho. Because of companies like sig, vortex and aimpoint. It was possible to get good carbine optics. Back then alot of glass and other optics costed wayy more than the guns they are mounted on. Same with lasers and lights. Nowadays. Good rifles are hovering around 5-600 to 900 dollars. Including PSA starting at 500. Tf u talkin about

A complete rifle from PSA can be had for $350 if you buy the upper and lower separately from PSA. $239 upper w bcg & ch, then a complete lower, or a kit w complete upper, lpk, & buffer for $299, then grab a bare lower.

For those who are thinking hard about price, I think it is worth the reminder... Mil-spec is mil-spec. If it is actually mil-spec, the military thinks that it is good enough to go to war with. Can you do better than mil-spec? Yes and absolutely, but there is nothing wrong with starting out with a $500 mil-spec and upgrading it later. Every part you upgrade with something nicer means that you have a basic backup part in the drawer in case something breaks. For my part, I don't see the point in having a $3000 AR and not be able to afford spare parts and ammo. Consider this as well. You can build a VERY nice lower for $500, with great custom parts, and then buy or build 2 different uppers of different barrel lengths or calibers, and still only spend half of what you would on the "super" $3000 AR. Also, in my opinion, if you take the time to source the parts and assemble it yourself, you will become competent in the care and repair of your firearm. You will learn a great deal during the process. You will gain a level of knowledge about your firearm that you should aspire to if you are even remotely serious about being good with your chosen firearm.

I appreciate Eric and the effort he puts into his videos. AR's are tools. Tools vary. Before buying any tool determine what you need, what you can use, what you can care for and what you can afford. I just spent $800 on a snow blower, Not the biggest and fanciest, but not the smallest and simplest. I also use a snow shovel. I've also got a rototiller a spading fork and a pickax for gardening and planting trees and bushes. I'm older with some joint and vision issues. If I were to buy an AR now I'd want a front grip, a variable power scope and because i live in a free state I'd get at least a six pack of 30 round mags. I recently priced out what I want and it ranged from $900 to $1,400 depending on make and model of the rifle, the scope, the other accessories. Also because I am old I already have home defense firearms, a concealed carry firearm, plinkers, clay shooters and I don't need an AR. If SHTF I won't be in a foxhole, I'll be a cook, an errand runner and a litter bearer in the local infirmary.

A few months ago I purchased my first rifle after months of research. I visited several local gun shops and learned they just want to sell you what they have in stock. I wanted a SBR for target shooting out to 100-yards. I visited the outdoor shooting range and asked several people if I could try shooting their gun. They all looked at me like I was some weirdo. I ended up having to buy a SBR that I never had an opportunity to fire. I decided to get a 9mm Banshee MkGs with five 33-round Glock mags. I can go the range and have a good time blasting through 165 rounds without having to reload magazines. That was the best decision I made. I like to shoot and the 9mm ammo makes it affordable. Great video! My first AR was a DMPS well over a decade ago and since then I've had Colt, Daniel Defense, Smith and Wesson, and POF. But at the end of the day, 99-percent of AR-15s out there will meet the needs of 99-percent of the population. Most people aren't operators and most people might throw 1,000 rounds or less down range in any given year, so the idea of wanting the absolute best... I get it, but it's not realistic or practical or even necessary for most people. If you have a gun that you keep clean and it's a $700 Bushmaster or DPMS and you fire 1,000 rounds per year and just want it to have for home defense... who cares. It will go bang 99.99999 percent of the time. I always appreciate Iraqveteran's common sense approach to these topics. Thanks! AClockworkPeon

I'm just sticking with my Smith and Wesson MP Carbine.2. No frills and no bullshit and does exactly what I need it to do. Thousands of rounds with never a miss fire. A4 front sight and flip up rear with a cowitnessed red dot. What more do you really need unless you have money to burn ?
@Rubeless Жыл бұрын
They are great. We have two for loaner guns and they get abused and keep going. Smith has a good blue label discount and can’t say what their customer service is like yet. I use one for intro classes with just the front sight to prove that you don’t need to drop thousands to defend your home.

Excellent advice. Both of those are more important than an optic. Well, learning how to use it is up there too.

I started with a diamondback db15 and put a couple thousand rounds through and it ran fine if you want a bit more mid tier aero precision I could makes some really nice rifles that hold up well

Id like to see you check out the new Hux werx suppressor. It mounts to a proprietary muzzle device but its supposed to mout to standard A2 birdcage aslo.

CMMG needs to get those .22 conversion kits below $400. I want to 3d print an AR with one but hard to justify a $400 .22 rifle

If in the US, They are only 180$ with 3 mags at palmetto state armory right now. I got mine 10 years ago directly from cmmg for 225$. Still works great.

3:17 Gonna be honest, that basic looking Colt AR genuinely just looks cooler to me personally than the rest of the guns on that table. I always liked how it looks, and kinda hate how homogenized the AR design has become with it basically just having picatinny rails all over, or looking super tacticool. Something about the classic aesthetics of a rifle taken right from the 80s and 90s is more my cup of tea, personally.

I purchased my first AR-15 on the 25th of January 2022. I got incredibly lucky. I found a Sig Sauer M400 Moe enhanced leaning against the wall. Bought it used. Flawless not a scratch on it and absolute pristine condition. I have put thousands upon thousands of rounds through it since then. All I've done since then was upgrade the butt stock and the handguard because the handguard was not M-Lok compatible due to it being manufactured in 2012. Now I'm assuming M-Lok came out after 2012. Either way I turned it from solid black to a two-tone gray. Not a single malfunction with the thousands of rounds that I've put through it. The price point couldn't be beat. And it is amazing for an entry-level weapon without a doubt.

What do you mean when you say something is chemically welded? Are you talking about using something like Rocksett?
@Rubeless Жыл бұрын
For gas blocks, yes. Locktite will fail from heat.

Yeah, I started out somewhat basic. Sig M400 Tread. $800 rifle. Not bare bones but not high end either. It came with the Magpul stock and some ambi features like the safety and mag release. Been upgrading it one piece at a time for the past three years or so I've had it. Swapped the handguard with one that has more mlok/heat relief slots. Aero Precision charging handle and A2 flash suppressor. ALG ACT trigger. Added other accessories and optics over the years but that's what I've done to the base rifle. Out of the box, the rifle was just fine. I've never had a jam or failure with it yet. Gradual performance upgrades here and there or just for preference. Aside from maybe getting a suppressor at some point, I really can't think of anything else to do with my rifle.
@ryanwaddell6278 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I got the tread as my first Ar I did the same with handguard like u said it ain't got good heat relief but their 15 inch one they sell got more mlok slots and vent cuts. Been good gun get good accuracy out of mine with the stainless barrel it comes with.
@1977Yakko Жыл бұрын
@@ryanwaddell6278 Yup. Sig likes their proprietary parts so I got the 15" handguard as well. I started with a Sig Romeo MSR red dot and got that dialed in at 25-50 yds pretty well. Upgraded with their Juliet x3 magnifier which made the 50 yd shots a lot easier and I was pushing it to 100 yds at the outdoor range I joined last year. Just got a Sig 1-8x24 LPVO when Optics Planet had a great Cyber Monday sale going. It's only dialed in to 50 yds for now but I'll stretch its legs to 100 yds and further when the weather warms up a bit.

PSA does a fine job of getting a good rifle into the hands of everyday folk. If you watch carefully, you can get into one for $300 or less Would not mind a Smith & Wesson Rittenhouse, proven track record.
