Hi, love your videos.. really cool ideas. I've used lots of UV resin and it can be sticky after curing... I seen this tip on KZbin... place item in some water just enough to cover item , place it under UV lamp again for a few minutes , it helps with the stickyness Hope it helps

Try curing the UV resin in bright sunlight. It works great..

Not sure how goo gone would react to resin but you could give it a try on a spare piece of epoxy with a sticky layer. Hopefully it removes the sticky feeling and not the resin.

I believe thier is a uv light your suppose to use with uv resin it looked like you had one but you called it a torch so I'm not sure. To touch up your pieces could you mix a small batch of the same resin you used to make these and just use a small flat silicone brush to fix them?

love your work. I did try some time ago to put dry leafs in resin epoxy but in a matter of weeks they got full yellow. Is there a way to prevent that?

Will the green colour of the moss completely fade away over time?
@mirinaemark69102 жыл бұрын
Those are really beautiful! I have one question. Do the green materials (moss, leaf) change their own color after some periods? If the green color is preserved forever (or long period), then it would be best!
@fretka007 Жыл бұрын
It depends how UV resistant your resin is and also how you store the items (if they are frequently in direct sun, they will change colour faster). You can either buy resin with UV resistant additive in it or you can get them apart. But from my experience, some plants stay kinda the same and some change. I even had moss that I picked all in 1 day and for some reason some of them were more colour stable than others. You can never be 100% sure, unless you dyed the plants with some artificial colour.

Sticky uv resin is because your uv torch is not powerful enough, uv resin NEEDS a HIGH UV Light to cure it properly. Great vid and resin pieces. Thanks 🙏🏻
@fretka0073 жыл бұрын
Yes, I thought too, but this torch should be stronger that the cheaper UV lights I see people use for the nails. I guess I need to invest later in something better. For now I figured out that the sticky layer cures over time if I leave it on a windowsill for about a week (I live in a cloudy country). Thank you for commenting!:)

if sticky place in sun light...for a few minutes, it takes care of the stickiness

@@fretka007 hey love amazing video and pieces, no need to invest in better light, just use your uv torch in a dark area.... not under a different kind of light, again amazing pieces and thank you for showing how you dry out your stuff.

@Rachael Wood Hi! I should make an update video. It was the resin. I got different one and that one hardens fine. I also got a proper UV lamp and the older UV resin stays sticky forever even there while the new one needs 10-15 minutes curing to harden and dry.

with pendants, I find placing in a pie pan with dish soap & water, helps remove them.
@fretka0073 жыл бұрын
Hi, do you mean the pendant in the tube mold? I haven't tried that yet! I tried to inject some water in the mold, but it did not really make it much easier to get the pendant out and I couldn't re-use the mold right away, because it was wet.:(

Beautiful work u have here 💕..... quick question, how do u dry the plants?
@fretka0073 жыл бұрын
Thank you and sorry for the late reply! Depends what plant and what I'm planning to do with it. Some plants, especially flowers or leaves with more intricate shapes are better flat. For these I use the classic technique - a flower sandwiched between papers, inserted inside a book and put some weight on top and leave it in for couple of weeks. I've got a dedicated flower press lately, but haven't tried that yet. For moss, mushroom and some other plants I like more in 3D shape I use an air tight container with silica gel or pearls for dehumidifier on the bottom, then paper napkin and then layer of the plants/mushroom. They can't be tangled together because some get very brittle as they dry and then it's impossible to untangle them without causing damage. I hope it's helpful!:)

realy nice vvideo! i tryed to make one myselfdd but when i was sturring the things inside the epoxy around, there was to much air comming into the epoxy. this made for a verry bubbely piece of work. do u know anything that might help?
@fretka0073 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for commenting:) I usually leave the mixed resin stand for about 5 minutes to allow the bubble to rise and pop by themselves. Sometimes I smack the cup on the desk to make them rise faster. After few minutes there's minimum of bubbles and only then I'll start pouring it in molds. If I see some big bubble inside a mold, I try to squeeze it out or again hit the mold on the desk, so the bubble comes to the surface where I can pop them with lighter. If you work with dried plants or mushroom, sometimes it's better to soak them in resin before you arrange it in the mold, because some are too porous and will release bubbles of air. And lastly, the pressure pot is just great thing to have clear casts. I think I'm going to make later some more detailed video on how to avoid some mishaps in resin casting.:)

It's such an improvement when you work with resin! Simce then i have rarely any bubbles. I can only recommend. Mine is just little modified pressurised paint tank i got from Amazon for cheap.
@evastapaard24623 жыл бұрын
@@fretka007 what did you modify?
@aegis3d3 жыл бұрын
@@evastapaard2462 Hi Eva, I was the one that modified the pressure paint pot. There are videos on youtube how to do the modifications, but ours didn't exactly match the one from the videos, so I had to figure it out myself. I can give you some clues how we did it: Both paint and air outputs to the paint gun are closed off by extra parts from the hardware store. Then the pressure regulator is flipped, so it will show the pressure on the inside of the pot, and not on the output side of the paint gun. Furthermore, the ball valve was placed on top of the reversed pressure regulator and I connect our pressure pump there. Our pressure pump is from a refrigerator, modified to connect to the paint pot. Be careful though, working with high pressure systems is dangerous and should only be done if you fully understand what you are doing.

Can we use fresh moss with epoxy?
@fretka0072 жыл бұрын
Hi! Fresh plants in general are bad idea for using in resin. Resin doesn't like water when curing and also fresh plants will rot or significantly change colour when encased in resin. Drying is the best way to go with moss or or other plants.

Hi, sorry, I don't speak Italian, so I'll at least answer in English. I let them dry usually 2 or more weeks. Some plants are juicier and need a bit longer. The best is to try and observe. Good luck! :)
