Another great tutorial :). One minor thing to correct. The A on the hud. Yes it does let you know you got a lock. But its more of a visual IFF, what it is really telling you, is that the target you are locked on to is hostile. That A will be replaced by AFR if its a friendly. its good if your in ACM using Boresite, HMD, or Vertical Scan mode. You can tell if your locked onto a friendly, or hostile target without having to refer to the BVR radar. But it only shows IFF if you have your radar on, and is not off. The EO mode is just the IRST sensor, and it will show everything as hostile. So its always good to turn your radar on for a split second to make sure your aren't shooting down a friendly :). Another awesome video tutorial. Im a big fan of the fulcrum. And its good to see tutorials being made to this Iconic bird. Sorry about your mother. Life can throw us all curve balls at time. I hope shes recovering alright. Thanks again :D.

To correct the cross track error you should have turned hard to the right and flown at 90 degrees away from the course indicator. As soon as the arrows start to merge you should turn hard back towards them. The basics of navigation :)

@@OverkillSimulations I just read through some shitty comments. It's like people paid for a service and are grumpy that your (obviously hobby) video guides don't stand up to their expectations. The nerve. If I were you, I'd pick up the useful criticisms and apply fixes where I need/want and completely ignore those dickheads who don't have basic manners. Thank you once more

The minimum range for launching a missile does not necessarily mean it would not be effective at even closer range. Of course it's harder to maneuver for the missile at close distance. But the main problem is: missiles do have a fragmentation war head, which explodes near the target. So if your are too close to the target, chances are the missile would damage your own aircraft as well. Basically the same thing like flying too low while dropping bombs.

For me on the Mig29 those dots(as it is on 27:00) when there are more targets, it just moves fast from up to bottom really fast, and it does not locks on any target, and when it does it targets or should I say locks on to something empty in the air.

Nice video, Pal! Short question: never saw spawning aircrafts via F10 menue... Where can i read about that function? It´s a very handy function for training purposes, so I´d like to include it in my own missions...

I know this video is old, but how is the radar pitch up/down supposed to be used? I haven't noticed many situations where a pitch up or down is needed with it.
@OverkillSimulations4 жыл бұрын
So... in order to understand that you have to understand how the radar sees. It sees in < shape. So as objects get closer and closer, they will eventually exit the radar field of view. Another way to think of it is a flashlight. You're in a completely pitch black room. You point your flashlight on the wall in front of you. It creates a lit circle on the wall right? At the top of that circle there is a fly on the wall. The fly then leaves the wall and flies directly toward you but not in the center of the light. So eventually the fly will leave the visibility of the flash light. You would need to lift the flashlight up in order to continue to track the fly. I hope that makes sense.

@@OverkillSimulations ah, gotcha. I also took a look at the manual and got a good idea for what the number means. I came from the f-15c which has a pretty self explanatory range, but the mig only has (what I assume to be) a center point, and since my brain was still on feet rather than kilometers... Anyways, another question I have is how much impact the expected target range has on scanning.

V. Good series. Not having either I still would like to know the Advantages/Disadvantages of the SU-27/33 over the MiG - 29 in terms of performance (I know the 33 is a Carrier airplane). The 29 seems to be more finicky to fly to me........the 27 has better range and weapons load out. Just interested. Thanks. Best, Pete.

I'm an old player of FC 2. Is the mig 29 dlc for DCS the same mig 29 as in FC 2 or is cockpit clickable and/or flight model different?
