Basic Handgun Cleaning (Gen 5 Glock 34)

In this video we go over the quick process of cleaning a modern striker fired handgun, a Gen 5 Glock 34 in this case. While it never hurts to clean your weapon, if done properly, you really don't need to clean them as often as you think. You also don't need any complicated cleaners or fancy kits to get the job done, although certain tools like a BoreSnake/Borenado can definitely speed things up!

Glock says that they use a copper based lubricant on the slide, and per their instructions, you're supposed to leave that on for the "break in period" (supposedly several hundred rounds).

We have seen that! On some of our “used” guns, we’ve even seen it on the slides. We broke our Glocks in pretty well before we cleaned them up. Thanks for the comment 😎

The brush came with the Glock when we purchased it, and the oil is standard Hoppe’s Gun oil! The BoreSnake was a Christmas gift, but you can get them offline (Amazon probably has them) or in any gun store. They are very handy.

I thought gen 5 has two recoil springs

Hey Jb Arson! The Gen 5 Glocks have one recoil assembly, but it consists of two springs in the assembly! So yes you're right!
