"Dissonant chord, but in the context of progression it sounds really good". --Nicely explained man! Musicians that really wants to learn, they dive head in to music theory, and somewhere along the way they (or I at least) are thinking: "Why does such a weird chord sound so great, when it's dissonant?.. I need to know why!!".. You immediately struck me as a really good music teacher. You seem to find a balance between making it easy for beginners, but also explanatory for intermediate players.

It's nice to hear from you, Kim. That's a good observation... it's a challenge to make it interesting for more experienced player while not losing beginners and visa versa. Thanks for the nice feedback. I appreciate it.

Govind....Music theory is easier than you think. You just have to learn more than just the Major/minor scales...for it to actually make sense.lol There's 12 notes in an octive or chromatic scale..yes? 1.......2........3..4..........5..........6.........7..8 = Major scale INTERVALs..yes? b2 b3 b5 b6 b7 = the five missing notes ...yes?? Here are list of diatonic ( 7 notes) scales. It'll give you basically every 7 notes combination within those 12 notes. It's 9 scale with 7 modes each = 63 modes. aka PARALLEL SCALES These scales work together. 63 options are better than 7..yes?? More different possible chord progressions..yes??lol More cool/different sounds....yes??? Key are just PITCH In other words 63 different 7 notes interval. Not just 7 different intervals in 12 different Pitch. ( Major/min) Fully extended chords are the samething as modes They had to call them something..to keep track..yes? b3, b6, b7 = NATURAL Minor These notes are also the SECOND ARPEGGIO of the I, IV, V chords. ( notice ....the b2 and b5) PUSHING DOWN from MAJOR to minor b6 = Harmonic MAJOR b3 = Melodic minor b3, b6 = Harmonic minor b2, b3 = melodic minor b2 ( N6) b2, b3, b6 = Harmonic minor b2 ( N6) b3, b5 = Melodic minor b5 b3, b5, b6 = Harmonic minor b5 ( III of Hungarian MAJOR) b3, #4 = Melodic minor #4 or lydian b3 = IV of Harmonic MAJOR b3, #4, b6 = Double Harmonic minor........aka Hungarian MAJOR b3, b6, b7 = NATURAL minor You can reverse the process PUSH back up from the Natural or relative minor to it's PARALLEL MAJOR b3, b6 = Harmonic minor b3, = melodic minor b6 = Harmonic Major........ect I see this lesson in possible D Minor...Then D melodic minor It's sort of like you can play it in A minor too...that's what cool about Parallel scales...MORE CHORDS/MODES will intersect. It's actaully easier to MODULATE if you know these scales. Just start LEARNING them. So you'll get familar with the different scales/SOUNDS... I think the A min 9 chord is a beauty chord. At first ..I saw it in A minor...ish ( it's okay) It's actaully that note..that help me see it as a possible D melodic minor The maj 6 of D dorian or D melodic minor... I like the lesson...but I'll need a couple more different progression to make it a song.lol If you play the D minor less the ROOT. or F Maj7..add 6 ( will overlap in A min and D minor) Then I simply play B dim, C# dim into D minor.lol Then Im going to apply the (N6) play Eb Maj7 D harmonic/melodic minor b2 Then play the G as Minor....C as sus 9 Then maybe Bb Maj6. What I want to do is play the C as minor. It'll be as if Im in C minor... Play G min...F min...E7 into A min ish again..hahaha You can make the F as min while in A harmonic minor F lydian #2 But the A min add9 sounds cool.. Im going to play A as dim ( A lydian b3) I have an option of playing the B as dim or B7 into C Maj or C minor i can play is as C melodic minor...Play F7 G7 E min or E7 into A again...hahaha I can easily play B dim..D dim. F dim G# dim into A anytime.. but people play that a lot too.lol There's all kind of stuff you can do His lessons are cool...He'll use different combination than what i might come up with..Which is cool. It'll help to learn those 5 scales...he say. You dont have to learn all 9.

Hi thomas, on the guitar you're playing, is that fret board that cuts off in the sound hole/rosette a specific brand/flamenco style? Or do multiple brands that?
