Basic Trading in a Type 7 Elite Dangerous S2 EP 13

The fastest maneuvering direction for the type 7 is diagonally - combining pitch and yaw. You can use this to your advantage by rolling 45 degrees to the direction you want to turn. And when fleeing after being interdicted, regardless of what ship you're in, using vertical or lateral thrust actually causes you to lose speed faster than flying straight with FA off, not touching the controls. (Blame such crazy shenanigans on the arbitrary speed limits that make no sense in space. It's possible, for instance, for a drifting ship with its drives completely disabled to outrun a ship boosting at full power toward it.) As for coming out of cruse facing the station entrance, you need to approach the station from the direction of the body it orbits. The airlocks are generally facing no more than 60 degrees off from that approach, commonly closer to 30 or 45. Although each station varies, the airlock is never facing away from the planet. Coming in from above or below its orbital plane and then making a 90 degree turn toward the station is the easiest way to get in the right position, although a small number of stations orbit so closely that you end up at very low speeds due to the planet's proximity and can overshoot if you're going too fast or time your turn wrong. A combination of the compass showing the station's direction and the planet's icon on your sensor display can be used to guide you in.

Charlie Brown I have a toggle for Flight Assist (FA) but found it easier to tell ASTRA to turn it on/off at interdiction attempt so I can focus on evasion. I've beaten every interdiction but have taken light damage at times. I do run with the lightest shields which provides that couple of seconds if ASTRA has a brain fart or my grip slips or I space out. I am going to try it without shields though and see what happens. As we saw in the video that repair cost to cost of upgraded shields and usage doesn't seem necessary unless you are really getting banged up on every run--which no self-respecting trader ought to have going on, LOL.

OK, posted some comments about the Type 7 on Troa's latest video: 41. However for anyone following Troa's series, they really need to be on this video. So here are the consolidated points. 1. Try the Type 7 with a shield, shield booster and at least a Basic Discovery Scanner at first. 32T fuel can take you 100Ly+. That's a lot of systems where you don't even have the map data for the position of the main star. The more of these you can map before you drop the scanner the better. 2. Upgrade to an A5 FSD as soon as you can afford it (I did this as soon as I bought the Type 7) 3. Once you are confident with flying AND LANDING the Type 7 you can drop the shield. This also means you can downgrade the Power plant. 4. The total cargo capacity with no shield and no scanners = 232T 2x64T (class 6) ; 2x32T(class 5); 2x16T(class 4); 2x4T(class 2) 5. Upgrade your thruster to A5 as soon as you can afford it 6. I run with 2x chaff launcher 1x heat sink & 1x point defence (as AI pilots do use missiles) 7. VERY IMPORTANT: Watch Troa's video again from 16:30. Note: This maximum profit, but it is also VERY risky. I recommend you avoid Slaves, Narcotics and Battle Weapons as you can only sell these in Anarchy systems. Also ensure that you hold back enough cash to pay the 5% the ship insurance does not cover. REMEMBER you have ZERO insurance on your cargo, unclaimed bounties and navigation data, lose your ship and you will lose all that. (Ensure you claim your bounties and sell Nav data before dropping the shield and/or losing the scanner) 2hrs after going with the full 232T cargo configuration, I was interdicted by a lone Python. Before my FSD cooled down I was down to 1% hull. You can imagine, I had to land that ship VERY carefully. Total repair cost 22K Cr As for market data, I use Elite Dangerous DataBase (EDDB). The data for this DB comes primarily from an API called Elite Dangerous Market Connector (EDMC). Note that EDMC requires you to supply your account name and password in order register the API with Frontier (Frontier will e-mail you a code just as they do when you register a new computer installation).

I have learned to avoid every interdiction so far in my type-7 ... I use my keyboard.. I use the left and right keys to horizontally meet the interdiction circle and the mouse for up and down.. so far I have been sooo lucky

I know its a bit of an old video at this point but a few tips. Do slave trading. I made the same amount of money in my type-6 running a system that would only take 2 jumps with this ship. So every 15 minutes a 2 station run was roughly 500k credits. With this ship that would be a bit more than double. Roughly 1.2 million every 20 minutes do slave trades. secondly, if you submit to interdiction the FSD recovery time is 1/4 the normal time, if you are about to lose, drop your throttle to 0. Also with this big ship I would recommend and auto docking computer, it can dock these bigguns a lot faster that we can. Other than that good video. Great representation on how to trade without using something like eddb.

Yeah this video is pretty old, I really should revisit this. Personally the docking computer scares me, and I've found that after practice I can land faster without one. For me the docking computer isn't something you'll find on my ships. But yes being a slaver or running palladium and gold is the way to go. Currently I'm smuggling imperial slaves in my cutter to make my money so you're bang on with what to zero in on. It's all about finding those routes, it's just a shame the in game method is so inept at facilitating that.

The trick for trading to be fun is finding your own trade routes preferably a circle of complementary stations. Using the trading tools is not only boring but you will probably find that your route loses value in less than a day as everyone goes to the same place. Resonating separators are really good for trading between rifinery and high tech.

I just found a route using my type 7, i have maxed out pretty much all, jumps 17+ LY fully laden (232t) and i can make at the moment just over 560k in about 12mins for the round trip.

Hey man thanks and good to hear! Pun somewhat intended :3 If you just got your vulture id stick with it and grind out an asp with bounty hunting. The asp will not be better than the vulture in terms of combat in any way so keep that in mind. However the asp is a fantastic all rounder that can trade in higher volume than the T6 can jump further than almost every ship and still has decent combat stats. The asp is more expensive than the vulture though when it comes to a final build. Id wait until around 10~ mill in assets until you make the switch. Exploration is something that you either like or you don't... Personally i hate exploration with an undying passion. It has its cool moments but on the whole its just painful for me. Im going to be putting out 4 videos here in a couple days that are all about it so you can get an idea about it. Exploration did also just get a buff in terms of income so its slightly less horrible than when i went out into the black but its still less than you would make bounty hunting or trading respectively. Great video an voice, but i've often delivered 3 passengers distance of 2 jumps at 10ly each, for 1.4 mill and 1.7 million? these will often appear early morning, before your actual midday, taken like 14 minutes? bare in mind you don't always get them but you can always get passengers paying 300,000 to 500,000 an takes no longer than 20 mins? so why spend an hour? for 900k?

I used to use type 6 for trading and later bought asp with vulture. Well i kept trading in type 6 till i wanted more money and more cargo space... Turned out Asp with only cargo and maxed frame shift drive. I make 1 jump from one system to another and make like 360 k to 370 k in 15 minutes. I wanna pilot type 7 badly.. but The ship can't land on outposts... Q.Q I don't know if i would make same profit as with my asp..

Trust me sell everything off your ships, downgrade everything else, sell the ships and buy your type 7. Outposts are very overrated and their supplies are generally lower anyway. You can always grab a viper if you want some pew pew :) you can however keep the vulture stripped down and upgrade it back up as you make money in the T7. But you will make twice what you do in the asp in the type 7, it's worth getting asap. Just don't fly if you can't afford a rebuy unless of course you don't want to, but I can't advise it on principle.

You legit now, made my doubts about type 7 gone to oblivion, I can buy type 7 easy now. i have like 28 million even though my asp has most of upgrades and as for pew pew, i used to have viper eagle or heck even cobra.. Everything changed when i used vulture... That ship is like scorpion with wings.

+gandalfx77 no worries, happy to help. :) The vulture is a beast of a ship, I still need to make a video on it. It's what I got elite in. Fantastic ship, I can understand wanting to keep it. But yeah you can always buy the other ships later when you're making so much more in a big hauler like the type 7, clipper, Python, type 9 and conda. They are worth grabbing once you can afford them.

900k an hour ? Guys use EDDB and do a search for A-B-A or single run trade routes from current station and you should easily find a route paying over 1 Mil each trip, I have currently been transporting Cobalt on a 6Ly jump which takes 8 mins in a type 6 for 72 Tonnes which is paying 1.3 Mil a trip so that's 7 Mil an hour but look up some trading Vids and you can earn 10s Mil an hour if you really know what your doing.

the route I take in my type 6 (104 tones of cargo) makes me 450,000 cr per round trip and I only have to do one jump! I take imperial slaves one way aprox 300k profit and imdium back aprox 200k profit. takes me 10 mins. it's insane!

You can get the ship and its internals on sale in Li Yong-Rui space for 15% off. Insurance alone for a full build is a bit over a mill, of course all is a lot less if you run shieldless but that's your decision.

If you wait till you have 25 - 30 Mil before buying a t7 you can get it almost fully pimped out straight away. As for the interdiction thing, you use mouse and keyboard don't you? I've only once been successfully interdicted in my type 7, escaped every other attempt on me, thanks to my hotas. I would seriously recommend getting one, even just a cheap one, it makes this sort of thing so much easier. I've actually had more success escaping interdiction with the 7 over everything else I've flown, currently rep grinding to get a clipper almost the same price as the 7 but better

not the best. maybe it was good around the time you made it but the profit per ton on the gold is 1566 which is good. but then the profit on the domestic appliances is only 298 a ton. total is 1864. i've been researching trade routes and so far have found a 2750 route with the per ton profits almost half eachof that. so about 1375 per ton. looking for better.

sugarkitty2008 I think the spirit of the video was more about setting up a decent run in an L7 and some other nice tips vs the absolute best route ever for all time. xSAINT MICHA3Lx Well to be fair this isn't the best route. It was more of a demonstration. You can make around 2 mill in a type 7 within 40 minutes with a fairly good route. This is really where rares fall off not by much but its the beginning. A Clipper or Python will completely blow them out of the water. Once you get into a type 9 or conda you make over a mill every 10 minutes. Sounds like you've got a pretty efficient rare route, that's pretty good if it can compete with a T7 :) Thanks for the Like BTW :)
