Because of the way that Chester sings his lyrics, not his rapping. That being said, Mike is not one of the greats but he is GOOD and has the true spirit of an MC and hip hop in him. He is the brain of Linkin Park.

What you call "sounding stupid" is actually a representation of the inner monologue of the person who expresses these feelings, how chaotic and overwhelming is the ill/uneasy feeling thats _crawling_ in the persons mind - its like hearing multiple voices, which provide further context into the mind of the individual at the center. The choice of incorporating both rapping and melodic singing at the same time was a creative choice, not following of some trends, while it may seem that way due to the fact they might have been inspired by someone else. AIso, Im sorry if you have a hard time differentiating between the art, and either the great continuation of that art, or all the unrewarding experiments that comes afterwards...
@MadisonM19962 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I highly doubt Linkin Park was following trends with the combining of singing, rapping, and screaming. I don't know of too many bands that did that before them. Slipknot kinda did. Rage Against the Machine and the Beastie Boys did it some. Even Run DMC and Anthrax dabbled in the rock/rap genre. But none of those bands did it the way that Linkin Park did and Linkin Park did it best. They were truly pioneers of that sound.
@19RaxR912 жыл бұрын
@@MadisonM1996 well, Limp Bizkit did it before them too, as did Deftones to a certain extent, but naming who did it best imo is pointless - as long as the music is good and relatable, thats whats most important imo.

That alternation of the voices kind of got to be a gimmick, and they pretty much stopped doing it because everybody else started copying it. But rather than it being something that was trendy at the time that dates it, it was a thing they invented and MADE trendy, and everyone else tried to copy it. The worst example of that copying probably being Evanescence's "Bring Me To Life", where the studio basically said "Make a song where you alternate with a rappish vocal or we won't release your album". But what really gets me is calling it "Ad libbing", like Mike is Chester's hype man. This isn't ad libbing, it's poetry
@ray11913 жыл бұрын
i found that mike shinodas raps broken down the song and had a nice break from Chester's hard singing. and the lyrics mike sang is important too but i do suggest looking into mike shinodas solo staff

@PenneySounds3 жыл бұрын
"Ad libbing things"? You seem to be under the impression that this was a rock band, and those interjections are by an "other guy" and interrupt the song. LP began as a hip hop group, and the "other guy" is the founder of the band and the one responsible for its creative direction. He's not doing random hype man ad libs, he's rapping. Because he's a rapper. Mike Shinoda IS Linkin Park You need to hear more of this band to understand them better. Most of the tracks on their first 2 albums featured alternating singing and rapping, sometimes with the rapping taking the centre stage and the singing interjecting, or with a call and response between the two. It was nothing like the trendy ad-libbing stuff you seem to think it is. I recommend these songs for more examples of that alternation: By Myself Forgotten Somewhere I Belong Lying From You Hit The Floor And these songs to understand the Hip Hop core of their music: Closing Dedicated Papercut Cure For The Itch FRGT/10 It's Goin' Down Nobody's Listening Session I Have Not Begun When They Come For Me Wretches And Kings Lost In The Echo Until It Breaks

I did notice that weird scene where a man with a gut belted pants lightly touches her shoulder while walking in front of her. It also isn’t the same guy in bed with her. The guy in bed with her is much younger. No one has ever pointed out that scene. I also didn’t know this fact about Chester. I knew he had depression and other mental issues, but I never stopped to think about if there was any past trauma that might have exacerbated his already mental issues. So sad realizing this now... Makes me kinda piece together all his other songs. He often sings about his trust being broken like in Numb and In The End. 😔 I’m at least happy that he had the chance to experience some form of happiness with his wife and children before finally deciding to leave this world.

Out of respect/no bs for this channel, I just wanna make a few points here: She straight up titles these vids, "Basic White Girl Reacts." What's refreshing is that she doesn't hold back on her opinion. Another thing is that before they made their first album Hybrid Theory, Warner Bros Records wanted to kick Mike to the curb and just have Chester front the band. Chester said no because it would be wrong because this was Mike's band before they found Chester. No pun intended, in the end, it worked out just fine for everyone. Peace.

You need to check out more of Mike Shinoda’s stuff. Whether that’s a LP song he takes the lead on (Castle of Glass, Sorry for Now, or Invisible are good ones), some of his solo music, or Fort Minor (his side project). You talk at the end about how they’re so lyrically talented…Mike Shinoda is the primary writer of those lyrics. As great and talented as Chester was, LP could’ve existed without him. It couldn’t have existed without Shinoda.

Been enjoying all the reactions as I come across them. You've heard many songs from them at this point so you've probably already noticed but usually when the song is more dominated by Chester singing, Mike tends to backup with more of a normal voice, when it's more of a Mike song he usually raps instead. There's always an in-between point there as well that creates stuff you'll never hear anywhere else which is super cool.

Linkin Park is not necessarily depressing, thier realistic ...it's reality that can be depressing. They just reflect it well in a uncontrived way. When Chester was still with us and Linkin Park was at thier peek of success they chose to unappoligeticly present a portion of thier souls within the beautiful music that they wrote. It contained the pain experienced by them and instead of just throwing together random notes and lyrical content into a hollow collection of songs to assure a more accessible outcome they chose to be real. Real depressing, real angry and real successful because of the authenticity of thier craft resonating with real people that needed an outlet to escape from thier own pain. It's obviously not everyone's cup of tea but that chorus tho!!! Also, I have a deep nostalgic connection to this band because I watched them rise to the top back in the day and Im still in awe of thier melodic sensibility and honest lyrics. Great reaction.
