Brilliant explanation - thank you! Only thing though is I'd say that I couldn't see an obvious jump in frames when I simply slowed down a video I shot in 24fps in FCP by 50%. It simply looked like a very good slow motion video. However I'm gonna start shooting more in 60fps or more - perhaps I'll notice an obvious difference in detail then. Thanks for this.
@TheDct8810 жыл бұрын
when you showed the pie charts the one on the right was supposed to show 90 degrees but the chart showed 45

So, according to the diagram at 2:40, the higher the frame rate the shorter the shutter angle? How can we stablish a shutter angle equivalency of a tipical "normal" motion blur in 24fps if we film (or record) at 100fps, for example?.
@santoshkumarvijayan9 жыл бұрын
Really nice and informative video,Thanks , I would appreciate if you could put some light on the audio affects if it has to be exposed while shooting in slow motion, for example while shooting a wedding in a church ?

Thanks for the great and very helpful video. There is just one thing that is still not clear to me. I hope I got it right and my question is not just stupid - I am still a rookie. 😊 We do travel vlogs and usually shot all our footage at 60fps (because of many fast-moving objects or us being on a motor bike/train etc.). In post, we edit and export using 60fps as well to not “waste” the frames/information we have (hope that interpretation is correct). However, this makes it almost impossible to use any slow-motion effects. Therefore, we are now thinking about reducing the fps of our timeline to 30 (and also exporting at 30fps) while still shooting all our footage at 60fps (as while shooting we do not know yet for which parts of the footage we later in post want to use slow motion effects switching fps while filming is not really practical to us). However, as far as I understand, this would mean that for all the footage we do not use slow motion effect for, we would “waste” the frames/information we have when exporting the 60fps footage in 30fps (hope that interpretation is correct)?! Would that go along with any loss in video quality? Or would there even be more disadvantages in regard of video quality or “feel” when watching (e.g. choopy or blurred) when doing so. Thanks a lot in advance. 😊
@TheSlantedLens6 жыл бұрын
The video quality won't be lost but it might look a little jarring. 24fps is the standard for a film look. Most TV is at 30fps.
@ZweimalFernweh6 жыл бұрын
The Slanted Lens Thanks. At least the video quality won't be worse. We'll try it for the next video and will see how it'll go.

I need to shoot at 240fps for a 1 second action to be dragged out to 10 seconds. I'm shooting under a street lamp and want to avoid flicker. Is there anyway to do this? Are there any lights I could use that wouldn't flicker at 240fps?

Since the shutter speed should be twice the number of the frame-rate (assuming 60fps) in order to achieve a slow motion effect post-production. Is it okay to go from twice the number of frame-rate to beyond (Say 1/2000 shutter speed for a 60fps)? or does it have to be closest to twice the amount?
@mab.t702210 жыл бұрын
The shutter speed at twice the frame rate, is it a limitation of this camera ? Otherwise I fail to get your math around it.
@Jasongreen3577 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't we put our shutter at double the frame rate of the output video. I know this is impossible at 1000fps, But when shooting at 60fps a shutter of 1/60 is possible and gives a nice motion blur closer to the 1/50 which would be double the output of 25fps.
