Of course he has had a drink , he knew when he come on Cilla would start howling like a frightened dog "You are on now Basil , and then cilla will sing" "Christ wheres my whisky" as he necks the bottle , everyone backstage injects themselves with 200mg of Diazepam just to get through the singing.. The only one sober is the poor woman crying, she doesn't care about Basil she knows cilla is singing when he comes out.
