It's kinda awesome that this "film that was never meant to be seen by anyone" has developed such a following that even the Museum of Modern Art considers it extremely special. No seriously - MOMA recently restored this "time capsule" in a well-done 4K scan, per Arrow Video's equally nice booklet. That's actually impressive for an absurdly low-budget exploitation movie, especially for one starring the too-handsome-for-reality Belial.

I watched this movie for the first time online and the intro mentioned it being in the MOMA. I seriously doubted it at first but after watching it I definitely consider it modern day art.

One month late and apologies for the reply. But not only is Belial unique, I think he actually inspired a monster/killer. That backstory and screech and way of murdering people reminds me of Victor Deshayes, ie one of the Twins from DBD

@@FinestFantasyVI Belial probably did, he is so utterly unique that despite the movie having the major movie hampering flaw of not having anywhere near a big enough budget, he is deeply influential.

Probably one of my favorite Dead Meat series to sit with while either working, cleaning, or just needing to reset my levels. James' earnest love of this awesome little movie mirrors my own, and it hits all the best beats about the movie and crew too, along with that jagged magic that was NYC at those times. To also hear the tortured and riotous rampaging Belial referred to as 'One big poopy-pants' will never fail to carve a bloody grin onto my mug~

I just realized that Charlotte and Victor Deshayes from DBD might be either partly inspired or a partial reference to Duane and Belial. Both are a pair of conjoined siblings. The smaller sibling Victor and Belial can move independently from the bigger and more normal sibling, Duane and Charlotte. Victor and Belial have the same kind of screech and both attack and kill people with bare hands by clawing at the victim or whatever
