All I can say is this was PHENOMENAL!!! So true on SO many levels. We have so much in common when it comes to the wonderful world of fishing. I've watched MANY vids brother, this was the most down to earth, raw, truthful, realistic and to the point tutorial I've ever seen. WELL DONE!!! On another note, I think especially with the clarity of the water up there, night fishing. We caught a lot of giants in the dark. I paint/epoxy the lips black on black musky jitterbugs as well as jointed bugs to give the baits a complete dark silhouette when a bass looks up out of curiosity. All they see is a shadow of something moving that's too hard to resist. I know, you can't record in the dark, but I think you would stick some big ones up there night fishing. Single Colorado blade, all black, big spinnerbaits work great as well. Bass love and are attracted to the thumping in which they produce. I could talk fishing with you for hours, so I'll end it there. On another note, I've been putting out some video shorts and posts as of late I think you would enjoy. Not fishing now, so I'm having some FUN with that. I will be releasing one this morning, 12/29 @ 10AM of a GIANT that spit the hook at my feet, HEARTBREAKING but HUMBLING!!! I will be in touch soon for sure. Take care my friend!!!

Thank you! I just have been thinking that I could help beginners narrow down their selections to the basics that I believe is truly all you need for a fun time out on the water. They are the tried and true in my opinion, for me, where I fish. I just thought I might help someone starting out to declutter their mind a smidge. Who knows, might help someone who has a huge amount of tackle to think about what they are doing too! As far as night fishing, I used to do that all of the time and still do on occasion. I use big spinnerbaits and topwater quite a lot for that but also a big culprit worm, in black and sometimes in light colors too. I think bass can see so well in the dark that I don't really change what I am throwing much from day to night. Just my experience. They feed whenever they are hungry and I believe they see "essentially" the same regardless of the time of day or night. On a moonlit night I think my full frame cameras could record video for sure with a fast f/1.4 lens . My action camera would fail though, the sensor is too small to gather enough light. Perhaps this summer I will give it a go and see what happens? Sometimes "failing" at something is fun! Ha! Might be too funny NOT to make a video and posting it! Lots of swearing and poor video (Great audio though) with the sounds of things going on that no one can see. I will check out your short! It sounds sad to be honest but I will indeed watch it when it posts. I am still checking out your other videos!

@@GrumpyInMaine1 You're welcome, keep up the GREAT work!!! If you have the technology to fish at night, go for it. Something you don't see much of on the Tube. Thinking, some kind of illumination mounted on your boat, that would be cool.

That is my general approach. Try your best and whatever happens after that is what is going to happen. I am already pondering what I would do and how I would do it.

You're 100% correct about amassing so much tackle. Although somebody once said you can never have enough tackle. I can relate.

@@paulwildum802 HA! I used to say that all of the time! When you have things you’ve never even used though… that’s just over the top. I’m recovering from my addiction. There is help!

Yup…I’m there…KISS. Perfect vid! I’ve cut my tackle in half twice and still have some I don’t use.

Thank you for the comment. It is much appreciated. Its that feeling when you grab a bait you never use to get rid of it... the thought comes into your head, "but what if I need this"? Likely... you don't!

While being on vacation I've been reflecting on life. My dad was a great man/fisherman. I know, being the angler you are, you have DEEP APPRECIATION for what fishing represents. I put up a post last night paying homage to him. I would be HONORED if you looked at it. Also, because you mention within this vid ALL THE GREAT iconic fishing shows we grew up WORSHIPPING, it reminded me of one that I had created. If YOU EVER have 46 minutes to kill, look for TANK 5lb.13oz. MASS LARGEMOUTH BASS, EPIC FALL 28 BASS MORNING video. It's a phenomenal day of my style of fishing. Tons of action, blow-ups, big fish, aerial leaps and some educational tips along the way. In the vid, you'll hear me mention and even talk to my dad. I TRULY feel he was with me that day. I really think you will ENJOY IT!!! I think I captured the true essence and relaxing tranquility of why we LOVE THIS SPORT!!! Almost forgot, I do have a video of my dad that pays tribute to him. It's one of my first vids I made. Enjoy and thanks my friend.

I will certainly check it out. Sounds like you and your dad had a great relationship and that is something to be celebrated. I will indeed watch them this morning. Ah yes, the fishing shows... sometimes they were educational and other times just fun to watch. If you were lucky, a bit of both. Fishing should be relaxing! With all of the BS in the world sometimes it is the only place to get away from it. It is one of the main reasons that I opted not to go the tournament route years ago. It would turn it into a job, to make a living, and that is something that to me would have ruined it. Stress, pressure, the NEED to catch fish. Ah no thank you. I'd rather enjoy it and keep it right there and not learn hate it over time or associate it with stress. Enjoy your vacation!

@@GrumpyInMaine1 Cool, THANKS!!! I couldn't agree more. I have fished several tournament years back. Short story: Looking for a way to HONOR my dad, I used to host 2, non-profit tournaments in his memory. Joe Sylvia's HAWGATHON in the spring and Joe Sylvia's LUNKERFEST in the fall. I think you know where I was going with the titles. $15 per person, $5 optional Lunker pool and a 5 bass limit per boat, regardless if you fished alone or a partner. Payouts were 55% first place, 30% second, 15% third and a bonus $100 gift certificate for 4th place from my sponsor to his tackle shop. When you have 80-100 anglers, CHA-CHING!!! The winner of the lunker pool not only won the pool, but most importantly walked away with a MONSTER trophy. A trophy that represented DAD, the BIGGEST BASS of the day, something that TRULY represented him. I did win it one year with a 5lb. 14oz. I was proud it was such a success in our local area. Seeing people I knew, people I didn't, women teams and MOST IMPORTANT, fathers partnered with their sons. The photo you'll see in the post, I had a laminated poster size of it hanging at the boat ramp, my way to have him there with us. I would take photos, 35mm back then haha, with all the winners. Very special time for ALL!!! Why I ended it after a 5-year run, is a story for another day. Hope you enjoyed the story.

Ha! I watched that tank bass one awhile ago, commented too! lol. I saw what you wrote about your dad, very heartfelt. He sounds like he was a really good guy. He’s kicking around somewhere I’m sure. Might be laughing at you for missing the big one at the shore!

Ah I reread your post. I missed the older video of you with your dad. I caught the one with the tank bass and I saw a pic and post with your dad but I missed the video. Trying to keep up while installing a new floor. As I said earlier, your dad sounded like a great guy. You’re lucky that he taught you how to fish and you got to fish together. My father was a good guy and dad but wasn’t a fisherman so that was more of a solitary thing in my case.
