Haight's Wanderings

2 жыл бұрын

225 fish caught in 3 days on this wild adventure with my dad. Wild, remote, and seemingly untouched river wilderness. This was the best trip of my life - an absolute banger of a time. The best - it was awesome, tough, rocky, remote, and full of challenges that we overcame.
I was not in a designated wilderness area so that is why I was able to use the drone.
In respect of local anglers I do NOT name any river/stream that I fish. Please respect my "no-name" policy and do NOT post the names of any spots in the comments. Thank you for understanding!
Leave a message or a question below! I love responding and communicating with fellow fisherpeople, adventurers, and wanderers.
Thanks for all of your support, Haight's Wanderings

Guys… this place is insane! Awesome catches and unbelievable that these fish just attach your bait just stirring the water. Gotta love those smallies on a river! Blessings, Rob

Dude, awesome trip! I am guessing that you pulled the raft over a half mile of rock - you da man. I appreciate your father/son trips. Keep doing them every year that you can. I was able to do the same with my father for 22 years. I remember aspects of just about every trip. Priceless! I hope you have a very busy and productive 2022.

@Todd Shook Thanks, Todd! I can guarantee that I pulled that raft at least a mile. I walked it for probably two. I cut out a ton of the rocky shenanigans as I was too hot and tired to film it. :)

Hey, guys. I know this is and hour and 48 minutes long. It's a film... so break it up over a few days! The first day is getting to know the river. The second day is the tough, touch, nature. And the third day is the magical fishing day. I hope you all enjoy it!

Great stuff Benjamin - thanks for taking the time to put it together and share it! Enjoyed watching you and your Dad and the little things like him helping you with directions for navigating the raft ;) and you cautioning about language (I laughed since I’m much worse!). Cannot wait to explore more remote water with Adam here in PA and out there!

That was bonkers, and it didn't help my already out-of-control cabin fever! I hope the insane fish count made all the portaging worth it. What a great trip, great video. I got in an extra hour of cardio today watching this on the treadmill. Thanks Haight!
@HaightsWanderings
@HaightsWanderings 2 жыл бұрын
@Brian B Yeah, the fishing definitely made the portages worth it. However, I didn't show it in the video but I messed my foot up badly on day two and couldn't put much weight on it in certain positions. But, yeah, the fishing was epic.

I took a canoe ride from M38 out by the Military Bridge and floated to Ontonagon and Lake Superior. It was Walleye heaven and there were trout everywhere.

@@HaightsWanderings I had to go around 2 falls, Irish rapids and the big Grand rapids. The area where the river meets the Victoria Dam confluence was a hot spot for 'eyes'.

Next time you do this, you should consider a spring or a fall trip. Should be a bit different fishing, though you may have to battle through all those bass to get anything else, not sure. Probably don't have to say this, but skip that shallow part. Lol
@HaightsWanderings
@HaightsWanderings 2 жыл бұрын
@Bazillions Oh, yeah. I wish the skipping up the shallow part was possible. That's one of the reasons this spot is so difficult to get to. But, spring or fall could be really fun!

@Studmurrin Hey. I appreciate the warning. Fortunately I was not in any designated wilderness areas. I made sure to check the laws before using it. That's why I didn't use it in Sylvania or at Craig Lake. Thanks!
