Old video but man I love it. Playing that chorus riff always cheers me up.

this is fucking awesome! Seen Cephalic about 5 times and i always enjoyed your playing.

That groove part at 1:40 is ridiculously heavy. Your guys' music used to scare me when I was 15. Edit: Can anyone explain to me what kind of production stuff is happening in the intro? It sounds like some kind of bowed instrument with slow gear/reverb and wah.

Played in reverse I believe

it is pretty apparent that you know what you you are doing... not really my type of music but i was glued to this entire video.

I mean brent seemeed to be cool but I mean I didnt hear him on ruination but I already know what you are capable of since I am a huge cephalic fan! And btw did you leave cephalic???!!!:o
@Dane1Boefel13 жыл бұрын
@Bassfordays Sweet. Wicked show you did on the rock. Neck was wrecked after wards. Rock on!
@MathijsIgnoul10 жыл бұрын
Always wondered: Is it not bad for the bass' neck to leave out one of the strings?
@Dominoes28210 жыл бұрын
Well it's better to do it on a bolt-neck than a neck through but since this is a 3-piece neck he can get away with it
@MathijsIgnoul10 жыл бұрын
What difference does this make?
@Dominoes28210 жыл бұрын
Mathijs Ignoul Well neck through's are susceptible to the tension rod moving or even warping when there isn't enough tension on them (from a stabilization standpoint). The easy fix for this is to have multiple pieces of wood so that it counteracts movement. This is why a Mayones has an 11-piece neck.
@Zimzephyr8 жыл бұрын
+Mathijs Ignoul It probably also has 3 truss rods, so taking out a string isn't likely to bow or warp the neck.

I loved it...it would be really cool if you did a gear rundown. Love that tone!
@NickShinz12 жыл бұрын
@mclouds37 Actually it's already done! Did an EP with them in February, and we finished recording a full length in October. It's pretty damn sick. The bass tone/level is probably my favorite I've ever had
@risingxforce12 жыл бұрын
The double stops are very much like Steve Harris from Iron Maiden. I'd guess that's where from.
@NickShinz12 жыл бұрын
@EaterOfBirds I like to roll with about .05 lighter than your average B standard set.Keep in mind what your scale length is on your bass, your strings might be fine gauge-wise but you might be getting a long-set when you need extra-long, etc. That stuff affects tension too. Also- get that action nice and low without buzzing of course-
@CameronBurris1 Жыл бұрын
Sick nasty! Tasty bass
@doodoodadda13 жыл бұрын
@Bassfordays i got a keen eye for good wood.... anyways whats a matter with the big singles i think they sound boss, maybe you should try a sick preamp like an east pro or audere
@joninawhitecoat10 жыл бұрын
It's a Warrior Bass, I think. I saw CC years ago in Nottingham and Nick was playing a Warrior 6-string bass then. It may have been the same as this one.
@NickShinz13 жыл бұрын
@tscherer1982 Thanks Ted ! How's your wrist?
@NickShinz11 жыл бұрын
Potentially. I was thinking Children of Deceit first though? It's got that cool bass run in the middle that makes me more inclined to do it first.
@doodoodadda13 жыл бұрын
@Bassfordays yes i have, im not a fan of running passive pups but if i did it would be q tuners hands down their ballsy and super loud. do you check out talkbass.com at all? thats where i go when i want to get some! is your warrior curly bubinga?
@ajawam13 жыл бұрын
Awesome playing... my drummer turned me on to your stuff. A bit like Mr Bungle without the polkas...not that I' dissin polkas. Had a bus pull in the studio once, young BYU looking kids and two old guys. While tracking, the old guy in the control room looks at his watch and in about four measures hits the talk back and says to the drummer (no click for polkas) " you're at 117.5, get that to 118.. " referring to BPM.
@NickShinz13 жыл бұрын
@PAPPISSGRIND actually those are the big singles (passive) Have you ever checked out Q-tuners?
@EaterOfBirds12 жыл бұрын
@Bassfordays what tuning would that correspond to Nick? Im trying to play in this kind of style (obviously I have a few lifetimes of practice still to go :D) but I think i might be using a way higher tension than suitable for it.
@victor70610312 жыл бұрын
Cool playing man, is this a 6 string bass with only 5 strings? You r the 1st one I v ever seen on Utube using a warrior bass to play such heavy music, and it sounds so impressive!

Amazing.... just incredible.
@squiresuzuki12 жыл бұрын
Nice Warrior, are those fat stacks? Didn't known they could sound this mean :) Since I'm assuming you just don't want the C string to get in your way, why do you have the strings shifted up instead of their normal position?
@BassGrindcore13 жыл бұрын
I thought I played it right... heh... Amazing, dude, btw, is that a Warrior Bass? Like Adam Nitti's one?
@NihilakhOxide11 жыл бұрын
Is that 3 finger plucking at speed or just the two? damn!
@balsac69nice13 жыл бұрын
@Necromal he told me he uses the tuning F# B E A D G. in all the live pictures there's six strings on it but all the studio footage it has the low F# removed. maybe he doesnt use it at all in the studio. the guitarists play in b standard but also in drop a so he probably just switches tunings on recordings but uses the lower string live so he doesnt have to detune his bass or switch instruments.
@NickShinz13 жыл бұрын
@vinbasshred THAT would be sick. I'd probably have to start my own band and be all Trent Reznor with it for that to happen.
