Dear friends ! Just a few words to say that 1 / I thinck that when you present yourself as an artist ( which i intend to do ) , critics are a normal thing and i do accept them without any problem at all . I feel already blessed that some of you like my work and that we can share our passion for the music all toghether ... 2 / I thinck , regarding this precise video , that those critics are fair . I was coming back from Tahiti with 12 hours jet lag , 24 hours in the plane , cold in the morning and i could not play one note ... i am only human and I played like the worst in my life ( well i wish ! ) . I do believe that the groove is number one and , at the same time i try to work on my instrument to become a better player . I don ' t separate technique from groove and i see Music as a global and fascinating art . Please take care of yourself ., after all , we are all Bass Motherfuckaz . Pascal

Pascal, I absolutely love your playing. It inspires me so much as I return to playing the bass after many years of not playing. Many years ago, in the Docklands of East London Jean Michel Jarre played a famous concert. I watched from a nearby tower block as I was too young to come myself. A few years later in a record shop I saw an album by an artist connected to JMJ. That man was Patrick Rondat. I bought that album (Rape of The Earth) and ever since then have been a fan of yours. You and Patrick have made absolutely mind blowing music over the years. I'm grateful to you for your artistry. Merci, Monsieur Mulot. Merci.

What that tells me is his technical skills are so great, anyone can hire him to do something other than that crappy but amazing range of perfectly awesomely played music he's playing, and he'll turn your great music scores into real greatness.
@harmonicsball893 жыл бұрын
It almost doesn't matter that some folks here are making an attempt to try to tear this dude down. He will still be great tomorrow and the next day (and the next day). For those saying that bass is all about this or all about that, think bigger! Just let a musician feel it the way they feel it. If you play bass, play it the way you feel it. That goes for any instrument, or any art for that matter. Innovation isn't for everyone. I've played long enough to have noticed a correlation between the greats and open-mindedness, as well as the flip side of that where some of the not so greats become the easy-to-hates.

MICK.

dear Pascal, I'm glad to find you here. Each time I've crossed it was a pleasure renewed. But the times I've seen you you "heat" before a concert, I confess to have been dumbfounded while entering a world of sounds, melodies, harmonies that really took me into your musical world that was comparable a real dizzy concert sound both soft and caressing the pillow and carrying me fully elsewhere I wished it never stops. I'd like to see you for further discussion because the way you play goes beyond the knowledge or experience you have something that goes beyond the gift that is a whole world of beauty. MICK.

It's a demo. It's intentionally crappy music and technically superb. He doesn't want anybody to steal his music, so he doesn't produce any; instead, he produces a great technical demo, saying, hey, I can turn YOUR great music scores into GREAT MUSIC with my technical prowess; HIRE me for what I'm worth.

Being a drummer I wouldn't know too much about this, but in drumming when I jam by myself I always try to put a story into it in some way, you just need more emotion, you need to make some changes, tempo or anything, and change it to where there's a beginning middle and end that make someone wanna cry and smile, that's what I try to do anyways... not that I'm any good at it.

@eclipseb37 жыл бұрын
Okay first, don't read the comments. Half of them are people who clearly have no idea how gifted and impressive this guys playing is. Was all excited to see everybody praising this guy in the comments, and was caught off guard by most of the people on here trying to say that this guy doesn't have rhythm? That he needs a metronome? Or the funniest one that he "speeded" up the video, and yes I said speeded up because people like to pick on others but can't seem to fix their own speech first. Anyway, open your eyes and ears people. Ya just arn't getting it obviously.

Seriously? People here say this guy needs a metronome, that he needs groove, that he needs to slow down a bit and to stop slapping cus "that's not music". As Richard Dawkins would say: "that's spectacularly stupid". Haters gonna hate. Maybe those people are just used to listening to things like U2, Nirvana, Bon Jovi: music that doesn't have downbeats or keeps the same tempo along. Nonetheless, the guy is improvising, not giving a concert and if one still doesn't grasp his level of musicality (dynamics, groove, accent, technique, thumbing, etc) then I guess you have a better ear than Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, Blues Saraceno and Patrick Rondat, since this guy has worked with them. People who critisize him do not have the level of proficiency or simple restrict themselves to one technique or genre. This man does not have many restrictions if your ears and fingers are suit to listen to him carefully.
