DBD120 it’s sort of saying how the worlds become materialistic, and something so significant in history (final days of Rome) are being witnessed only to be live-streamed for popularity or social media. The whole song is almost a message about putting the phone down really. On a whole in the album, it is about a crazy night out where you’re just having the time of your lives but outside the world is falling apart. Therefore we can see that the line “final days of Rome” has been brought from that concept.
@x-dynamics40255 жыл бұрын
@@rishivk7 ye you got it :)
@shantyr33235 жыл бұрын
@@rishivk7 On a historical level the finals days of Rome is referring to how the roman empire got complacent. They grew too comfortable with thier lives and bored of normal things, hence the rise of blood sport with slaves. They ignored the growing outside problems and drank away thier days with focus on pleasure. Western Society is considered the second Roman empire and we are sadly repeating the process. Numb to reality, would rather broadcast tragedy then prevent it.

Also, a theme of the song is how we are fucking the world through avoidance/poor actions. Short abrupt end could easily be tied to how there will be an abrupt end to the nice aspects of life we take for granted. I was thinkin'... does the bouncing symbols are a clue to the differents songs ? Like, two times the triangle, Kyle face, the Earth, the scorching earth (probably for Doom Days), the phone, the triangle again, Will face, the blue pill, Woody face, the clock (from quarter past midnight), Happy, and the last triangle. Each symbol would be a song (and the symbol being a clue around the subject. Or with the face, the fav song of each member of the band). So 13 songs for this album right ? I'm probably overthinking, it's just there for fun and for this particular song... DOOM DAYS FINALLY IS COMING.

Well there are a few pros and cons for your theory... Pro - 13 songs sounds like a reasonable number for an album...also 13 number of bad luck... doom days... I'm overthinking I know 😅 -smiley and happier and triangle and doom days could be a match - there's an inconsistency in the usage of the symbols... sometimes they are over the lyrics they fit to sometimes not.. Con ...on the other hand most of them match the lyrics in some way. Also why use the triangle so much if it should be 13 different songs... could be three connected songs or something but unlikely... So all in all I must say...I don't know but I really like your theory for it is very intriguing.

This is a freaking masterpiece... In just two minutes there are references to MLK's World House, the matrix, Shakespeare, portrait of Dorian Gray, Alice in wonderland, Peter pan, and so much more. If you know all of the references, this song makes a statement that could fill a book; but it's like a secret, because if you don't know then it's just a good song 😳 how did you do it Bastille????

Proud to have a comment here. Bastille inspired me to write my own music...Kinda Dan is my teacher and the other members are my dream team. Point and the poetic meanings of every sentence....and Easter eggs in Video clips...ohh I Love these guys and I have a big respect to all of them Their music should rule the world. Bastille is our new ideology.

I was 11 years old when I first saw them in concert. At a small venue, maybe 1,000 people there. Now I’m 16 and I’ve seen them once more and now I see them blowing up. Getting all the credit they deserve. I’ll never stop loving this group.

Right? I heard an interview where it sounded like the group would be taking a more conventional approach. I was so sad because he writes music with so much meaning, and relevance to actual problems. That's hard to find this days in the mainstream.

Lyrics : When I watch the world burn All I think about is you When I watch the world burn All I think about is you There must be something in the kool-aid Cruising through the doom days God knows what is real and what is fake Last couple years have been a mad trip But how'd you look so perfect You must have some portraits in the attic We’ll stay offline so no one gets hurt Hiding from the real world Just don't read the comments ever, ever We fucked this house up like the planet We were running riot Crazy that some people still deny it Think I'm addicted to my phone My scrolling horror show I’m live streaming the final days of Rome One tap along is pornographic Everybody's at it No surprise we're so easily bored Let's pick the truth that we believe in Like a bad religion Tell me all your original sins So many questionable choices We love the sound that our voice makes Man, this echo chamber's getting loud We're gonna choose the blue pill We're gonna close the curtains We're gonna rabbit hole down third act love now She’s gonna flip some tables I’m gonna move this tale on We're gonna rabbit hole down third act love now We’ll be the proud remainers Here till the morning breaks us We run away from real life thoughts tonight We're gonna Peter Pan out Fade to the close up, arms round We're gonna stay naive tonight, night, night When I watch the world burn All I think about is you When I watch the world burn All I think about is you You All I think about is you So I put my phone down Fall into the night with you
