We were at Lowe's looking for a new bathroom faucet. We were talking to the guy and he told us about a discontinued one they had only one left. It was originally about $80. They had it marked to $20. He marked it to $4.99 for us. It helps to be nice to the employees.

They will look back someday and think how lucky they are to have someone took the little time to show how things are done . We know our sons are very thankful for the time they have helped when they were young. And all they can do themselves now. Awesome job to u both

Hey guys! If your still doing the plumbing, please stick a rag into the opening, helps keep the fumes out... as for the venting under the sink is on top of your pipe... legal in mobile homes...just be sure you add one ,or reuse the old one on your new sink! Helps for draining ! If you have questions don't be afraid to ask!

When you two had taken the toilet out and were explaining the aftermath aroma's and Angela said she thought the smell was stuck in her nose, I immediately thought that if it were me I would have ran as fast as I could over to the Soap Shack and soaked up as much of the soap smells as I could. Lol.

When I was a kid, I always watched the plumber, because I like to know how things work. The plumber we had always put a balled up rag or paper towels into the hole until he was ready to put the toilet back. The way you have the pipe for the sink and toilet cut, maybe you could put a piece of aluminum foil or plastic wrap with a rubber band around the pipes to keep out the sewer gas until your ready to put things back together. Excellent with the TARDIS box :)

We did exactly the same thing with homeschooling. Homeschoolers have the luxury of tailoring the resources, which are legion, to their children’s needs at all times. In public school, with tens of thousands of dollars invested in any particular text there is no way to adapt to the children if a poor choice has been made. The teachers just have to make the best of it.

@@darleneclark6098 sure. It is really simple. I just got one of the hand held sprayers from Lowes (I think it holds like half a gallon). Spray a small area, maybe 2 by 3 feet, then immediately scrape it off with a putty knife. I used about a 4 inch wide one. You can make gouges in the ceiling if you don't have the angle right, but thats an easy fix if you do. It is messy, so be prepared for that. Put some plastic down to cover the floor, that way you can fold it up and throw it away when your finished.

Just a suggestion you may want to think about is to leave your aluminum siding on your home but go over it with new siding this will help work as an insulation barrier and sound barrier and should prove to be less work making the wall actually stronger basically using the ribs of the aluminum like studs. I've seen this done and other mobile homes and I've even seen where people have brought their walls out to the edge line of the roof if you have an overhang it can add like 2 feet to a bathroom or any space of the house.

As Sam likes to say "We gotta do something with our time!" :) We enjoy the work and leaving things better than when we found them. We've lived in several places where we improved them only to leave it all behind and start over again. This one probably will be the same way. :)

HEY SAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, READ THIS I redid our bathroom in our 1978 mobile home and we cut that pipe that goes out the roof off underneath the subfloor and installed a vent cap, its just a cap that has a rubber flap inside to let air in for drains (sink, toilet, shower) but closes off to keep any foul smells out of the house, you can install them anywhere that has an existing stack, SO even if you are not going to move that wall you can still do away with that pipe! hope this helps, keep up the good work man ,thanks
@sam-and-angela
@sam-and-angela 3 жыл бұрын
We read all the comments! :) I would consider that, had we not already installed the vent boot and pipes through our newly installed metal roof. :) At this point it's easier to just leave it as-is and keep the system intact rather than capping the vent or doing something differently. Spoiler: the plumbing has already been redone -- KZbin lags behind reality by a few days. Thanks all the same though!!

I've been building raised beds with saplings/young trees. You cut some 1 ft pieces off the thicker ends of the saplings and pound those in the ground about 2 ft apart. I make my beds 3 ft wide but you can make yours however you want. Then you take the thinner part of the saplings and weave them along the 2ft spaced pounded stakes. Just look up a wattle fence and you'll get the general idea. The 1ft stakes makes about a 8-10 inch deep bed. If you want a deeper bed, just make your stakes longer.

Light tubes are a cool idea, but we usually see them in dry climates. Putting holes in roofs in areas with decent rainfall is just one of those long-term risks that's probably best avoided. Even if you flash and protect the penetration properly, it can still fail over time, and that often leads to either expensive repairs or major damages.

Looking good and lots of work but we've done that on our two bathrooms and much much worth it. First thing we do when we pull the toilet off is take an old LARGE t-shirt and roll it up and push a bit half of it down that sewer hole. NO ODOR.......then when ready to replace the toilet pull it out and set the toilet. It's too big to actually go down the pipe so no prob. No need to inhale those odors and they are not healthy! As we all know......LOL Great job and I can't wait to see how you finish it up........going to be nice as you two do good work! Awesome......can't wait to see it! Best of luck.

I lived in a mobile home and used steel wool in the "mouse" holes and it rusted away. I changed to the copper or aluminum scouring pads and the mice didn't eat through that and it didn't rust away. You might consider that. Those mice can get through a dime sized hole. I caught one coming through the hole in the floor next to the water heater where the overflow pipe went. My mobile didn't have any load bearing walls inside the house. The roof supports went from side to side of the house. The outside walls were the supporting walls. I love what you are doing. Also you may want to keep your aluminum siding, and just paint it. I have a 1977 and I used a roller in one spot to see if I liked the color and it went on good. Probably would work to spray it. If I can ever get some help with it. Haha.

I don't know the indivudual instructions for the tub you bought but they all say "self supporting" on styrofoam or plastic legs these days. You will do yourselves a huge favor if you mix and put down a 40 lb. bag of mortar. It will make a solid base and there will be no way it can become a mouse condo. In the old days they used to say to get in the bath tub during a storm. That's why, they were solid. Everybody's got a tip or opinion I guess and you can't use them all. Great job so far.

It amazes me how Elijah at 8 does and that he wants to. And Issac at 5 is exactly how my 2 boys were. That young there is always better things to do . Like building forts or making roads in the dirt to push your trucks on. To me a 5 year old is still close to being a toddler. And to be truthful my boys had to do things like keeping their room clean. Even helping with supper dishes. Our youngest put them up after his brother and sister dried them. But if they didn't have to play was much more to their liking. Children grow up so fast anyway. Enjoy them while you can. This time is so precious. And Elijah is having fun working with Mom and Dad. And Issac is enjoying the activities for his age. Your boys are both precious. Glad you are homeschooling your boys. Too much ungodliness being taught in schools. The Bible says to train up a child in the way he should go. Can't wait to see how you put the space back together . I know it will be what works for your family and that's what counts. But I also just know there's going to be some neat ideas along the way. Just like with the soap shack. Stay close to the Lord. And please don't take that vaccine. It is the mark of the beast. Don't take my word for it. Research it for yourselves. It is a DNA vaccine.
