Nightwing actually has a thing about capes. In a surprising twist of common sense and realism, he realizes that capes interfere with his acrobatics, and that's why his Robin cape was so short and his Nightwing costumes don't have them. He also altered the Batsuit I believe when he took up the mantle. He didn't get rid of the cape, but I believe he made it lighter.
@Gaia_BentosZX58 жыл бұрын
Plus he can unhook the cape in case of it getting snared as robin to avoid getting caught (depending how well-written robin is).
@Mister-Thirteen8 жыл бұрын
Makes Sense, Bruce is a more direct fighter relying upon more direct applications of martial combat, thus the idea of something like a Cape makes sense as it provides him with several unorthodox options that make up for the possible weaknesses. well others with less bulk to throw around would see such a thing as too great a handicap.
@jonahfalcon19708 жыл бұрын
And Edna Mode told him to get rid of it. No capes!

I don't think Batarangs being “Bat”arangs is silly. I think it's just as cool as the other bat embellishments. They strike just as much fear into the hearts of villains. Imagine Batman finishing up taking care of some bad guys and leaving behind a Batarang. Other villains come back to the hideout, see the Batarang, and know Batman was there. That sounds pretty cool to me.
@KingOfElectricNinjas3 жыл бұрын
Mostly here for the Bat Credit Card explanation. Funny thing is that it's actually aged pretty well too, since cash is used less and less to the point where some places don't even take it, and of course it's a lightweight and convenient way to pay any amount of money for goods or services that Batman would rather not have to steal (or not be able to) but need in a pinch, without being easily traced back to Bruce Wayne. Whether vendors would accept it is an issue, but really, Batman's well established at this point as a powerful vigilante with all manner of customised equipment he rarely has any trouble replacing, probably anyone would presume he's not wanting for cash.

0:33 - After rewatching Matt McMuscles' Wha Happun on Batman & Robin and the whole craziness that went down with it's development, there is one good thing about it. Joel Schumacher owned up to how poor Batman & Robin was. He at least admitted that the movie wasn't that great & knew that the film was teh result of major executive meddling because the movie films were getting darker and they wanted Batman to be marketable. So yeah, B&R was bad... it's a so bad, it's good kind of way. At least Joel Schumacher admitted it that much and owned up to it. Not many directors would normally do that but with that alone, my respect for him has increased. God rest his soul.

@20:40 You know, based on this whole section, a great psychological story could be made from this point You have both Mr Freeze and Batman: both brilliant minded men wanting to stop people (and themselves) from losing loved ones and dedicating themselves fully to this pursuit. To the point they have made great personal sacrifices. (Batman not really allowing anybody too close, for fear of losing them and the chemical accident that created Mr Freeze) It could have made an great story of how far is too far? Batman could realise over the course of the story that as much as he wants too, he can't save everyone. He can still try because its his nature. But this fear of loss and his control issues has lead Dick to resent him, and realise that with his misson, he failed to notice Alfred getting sick. Meanwhile he is confronted by a Man who lost everything in his attempts to save his dying wife. Dr Freeze who has shut himself off emotionally, and is still doing everything he can to cure his wife. He robs banks/ charity events for funding, he robs laboratories for equipment, maybe kidnapping scientists to help with the cure. He doesn't care who he hurts or what he has to do. As long as Nora is alive, and others don't have to suffer as she did. It would make for an interesting story and characters.
@tjjordan42074 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: As a kid and teen I always assumed that the Joel Schumacher films were actually reboots of the Tim Burton Batman films. And it made sense (in a few ways): the tone was different, the actors of the characters (save for two or three) were different, the Wayne Manor and Batcave were different, and the continuity felt different. Nothing about these two directors’ films felt like they were in the same universe. And maybe this is wrong of me to believe this but I still consider them separate from each other. It helps me find the later two films a little more tolerable (in a “it’s fun if your with friends or drunk or both” way). Also, be thankful this badness stopped at Batman & Robin. Another film was in development after this one’s completion and the plot for it is BAD! The plot was to be about Harley Quinn’s introduction and her revenge plan against Batman. Why? Because he was responsible for her father’s death in the first Tim Burton Batman movie. Who? The Joker! Yeah, I think that alone speaks for itself.

Also, even assuming Batman is so omniscient and super chocolatey smart that he can hide his paper trails, don't you think that one of the hundreds of people paid to audit credit and bank accounts would find it odd that there's an account with a fake social security number and just the name "Batman" in their systems? The reason Batman gets away with funneling money through Wayne enterprises because he opened other fake companies and formed business relationships with them. That's not the same as getting Visa or Mastercard to say "yeah, we'll give this guy credit. Fuck the FTC and just about every personal security measure we have to protect us and our clients, let's just give a guy in a bat costume unlimited credit, and hope he can pay us back!"

He’s right, the Bat Credit Card wasn’t even in the comic, they probably didn’t want to waste a panel or page for the escalation and reveal of the Bat Credit Card.

I think the movie set thing is supposed to play into the theory some people have that this movie (and possibly even the third one) are actually movies within the Batman universe. It accounts for the dramatic shift in tone and aesthetic that happened at that point and explains away a bunch of plotholes like Catwoman just kind of disappearing off the face of the planet and Gotham City looking like a neon drug trip instead of Tim Burton's playpen for when he wants to be Godzilla.
@georgemiser7 жыл бұрын
If it was meant to be a movie within the DCU, dc would've made a comic where The Joker tries to murder the entire cast and crew. He would never let something like this stand. Not only does it insult his other half, but, and this is most important, it SHITS on comedy.

he is not, bruce wayne's secret accounts and the facts that he decorates almost everything as a bat doesnt come nearly close to explain why a bank woud give a man dressed as a bat an account on the name of "batman" especially considering the fact that anyone coud simply dress up like him and ask for all the money, batman cant explain how did he got all the money without revealing that he is bruce wayne either, so the whole idea its pretty stupid and ridiculous, that without considering that if you make almost any modification to a credit card it becomes useless, they coud just simply show a credit card with a false name and it woud have work, but they didnt they had to take the stupid route.
@evanhimebaugh54348 жыл бұрын
What if, through, one of those fake names, he started his own bank. It probably wouldn't be strictly legal (though economic laws vary from country to country) but he'd have complete control of his own money supply and could modify his own card in whatever ridiculous manner he wished. Hell, if you wanted to you could take it a step further, it could be a way to help fund multiple vigilantes who are tool and gadget based and don't have a bottomless money supply.
@Zhyro008 жыл бұрын
Evan Himebaugh yeah but that is still a ridiculous lenght to go only to get a credit card with a bat on it, even if he wishes to finance other vigilantes he coud laundry the money anyways, besides, the bat its over the credict card not drawn on it so it woud make it impossible to use it anyways

About the Bat Credit Card, well, presumably Batman doesn't want people to figure out who he is so you'd think paying with something that could possibly be in some way be traced back to Bruce Wayne no matter how much chaff he put in between would be a major no-no. I mean, it would at the very least tip people of that Batman had access to either large funds himself (which is already obvious from his expensive gear though) or to people with bottomless pockets. Didn't Bane originally figure it out because of shenanigans like this?
@kevindedios73728 жыл бұрын
Yeah, though pointing out just how much money Bats can readily pump into something was a great subversion to the gag we all expected....having recently applied for a Credit Card myself, my first thought was(among other parts of the process); "Wonder what he put down for his Social, maybe BATS in numerical keypad?" There are questions for THAT particular source of funds. As for Bane, a lot of deductive reasoning involving his funds was one of the reasons I can recall, though I admit to maybe mixing in Arkham Origins reasoning more which added in things like tracking his Batwing via Radar and putting quite a few resources towards finding out long term having been extra obsessed with bringing down the bat. That aside, good review. Yeah Freeze definitely managed to get a hand ona. bunch of fancy tech, didn't he. That one never crossed my mind before.

You know what the problem is with a bat credit card? That it doen't matter how many shelter companies you have. Money always leaves a trail. If you are good at it, you can find the source of everything. Since the moment Batman used that card to pay for something, he left behind him a trail to follow to any expert. And being someone with so many enemies, that it's not hard to imagine happening.

What part of shell companies was difficult to get there? A shell company is a fake company, meaning they'd have fronts for all of their business and legal needs, accounts being one of them. For all we know, they'd have an account that is fed pennies from dozens of Swiss accounts every few seconds and the accounts themselves might or might not be real. As Linkara pointed out, Batman is a genius, credit fraud isn't exactly beyond him. Though its more likely that he probably does actually pay for whatever system of accounts he has. But there are literally hundreds upon hundreds of ways for this to be obfuscated from the public or anyone else digging into his finances that isn't an expert. And probably ways to do so against experts as well. The cops probably look at it and think some corrupt local politician is building a tax haven. And even then theoretically that might not exclusively be untrue. Bruce Wayne has lots of resources is what I'm getting at.
