To put it simply: The Batman is everything I've ever wanted in a Batman movie. Sal really hit the nail on the head when he said this feels like you're reading a Batman comic. To put it less simply: The best way I can describe it is that while I was watching the film I remember thinking that it felt like I was following a video game storyline (in the best way). The story was so rich and engaging that it felt like you were being given the same amount of passion, respect and character development that I'd only previously seen from the Arkham games or the animated series. I don't know if that analogy makes sense to anyone else but that's the best way I can describe it

This movie was incredible to me. I haven’t watched a Batman movie where I was not only at the edge of my seat but also quietly murmuring to myself about what I noticed. The world had such strong resemblance to Batman: Earth 1 and it was such a ride. My biggest question at the end was where is Tommy Elliot or if he existed? The reference was very heavy handed even using the word “Hush” that Tommy HAS to show up at some point in the future. I actually did not care about the Joker cameo in this movie which can either be due to Joker fatigue in the comics or in media. Another idea could just be that we are too early for it. But I would like to know what happened to Hush in the world because targeting a Wayne due to the family requesting your father’s death can really shake a boy.

I watched a Matt Reeves interview explaining why he put the joker in the movie and he said that it is to signify to the audience that after the fall of Falcone, there is a power vacuum and the joker scene hints at what kinds of people will take advantage of that vacuum as well as telling us that the fight for Gotham is not over. Also, regarding the costumes of Riddler and Catwoman, Reeves believes that the comics dictate that costumed villains appear as a response to the rise of Batman, so that's why that they still look like that for now.

The casting was really good in an unexpected way. Not one of the actors was anyones first choice and yet they all knocked it out of the park. Also SPOILERS did anyone else feel like Hush was going to be revealed as the villain? The journalist Falcone killed had the last name Elliot name and the word Hush appeared on screen during that scene. I think it would have derailed the movie if he was the villain, especially if he and Riddler were going to be merged into one character as I thought. That being said I thought it was a cool misdirect.

It looked like what a serial killer/terrorist would pick up at a sporting goods store with touches of Riddler in it-the green color scheme, the question mark, and the Batman Forever glasses. Spoiler warning for the Batman. I don't know why you're reading the comment section of a KZbin video if you haven't seen the movie but just in case, you have been warned. This is by far my favorite Batman film. I think it does a great job of mixing realism with comic book campyness. I do wish Alfred had a bit more screen time in this movie just so the audience could build a bit more of a connection to this version of the character so his injuries would have more of an emotional impact. The Joker cameo is a bit disappointing as I like many others are suffering from Joker fatigue but it does make sense that WB wants to milk that cow for all it's worth. If this Batman does get a Trilogy then I hope Matt Reeves will save Joker for the third movie to give us a bit more breathing room in-between live action Jokers.

This movie is great. I think I only felt the length of the movie when Batman and Catwoman were meeting at the tower where the Batsignal is before she ran off to do more stuff on her own (before nabbing that one guy and calling in Batman and Gordon), I resisted the urge to look at my watch because then I knew I'd be doing that the rest of the movie. Other than that, I thought it was great. I thought everything worked from the cast to the tone to the score. I think the plot may have gotten a little complicated, but I also might just be stupid, but with rewatches, I'm sure I'll make better sense of everything as is the case with any movie. In regards to theater experience, I was a bit distracted by this guy to the left of me (a whole empty seat between us mind you) that had to be in his 60s that seemed to have something to say about what actor was portaying which character or had to state the obvious to his wife, except it didn't seem like she even asked for him to speak either. Shut up and watch the movie you jerk, how did you get this old without learning theater etiquette? Seriously, this guy complained that there were commercials being played before the previews instead of at most four cartoons (maybe he was from the 40s because that's got to be something that stopped by the 60s at the latest and he would have only been a kid then when movies still weren't made with him in mind), guessed incorrectly about every preview that played, and then there was some sort of plastic snack thing he was messing with halfway through the movie and throwing to the floor. Where's Vengeance when I need him? That've kept him quiet.

It's not a good story, it's not a cool universe, it's a fuckin' slog to be in and around, the characters come off a bit strong with the 'blank slate to project yourself on to' thought... ..Watch them. Every second that Robert Pattinson is on camera, and isn't the focus of the shot, he is doing SOMETHING to show that he doesn't give a shit about these movies, this universe, or this role, at all. He's rolling his eyes, mouthing other actor's lines, pretending to fall asleep, it's gold. There's a scene in Star Wars Episode 2 where Anakin is looking at Padme and she goes, "Don't look at me like that. That's fucking creepy." and that's exactly the expression that Edward Cullen has on his face the ENTIRE MOVIE. I always felt bad for Robert Pattinson getting so much backlash for Twilight... because I was in the theatre like Amos Fuckin' Diggory screaming, 'THAT'S MY BOYYYYYYY" watching The Batman.

I could feel David Finchers influence this movie. From Riddler being Zodiac (which fincher directed) to Se7en .

I liked it more than I thought I would. I've always prefered silverage Batman and Adam West campiness, with the Darker Batman stuff just not my cup of tea. I'd rate it both slightly above the Dark Knight in some areas and slightly below it in others. A solid 8/10 for me. Even if I'm really not looking forward to more dark Batman movies, I can acknowledge it was really well made.

I do not understand the appeal of campy Batman at all, too juvenile for me, but it is great that you enjoyed the movie!

@@blakepittman6679 I like camp because it's low stakes and I don't need to think very much. Hannah Barbara (the old stuff) is pretty much my jam. Also I'm not annoyed when Batman has a gadget for everything, because it's supposed to be ridiculous. I'm pretty much the reverse and I normally dislike dark Batman (Stopped reading in the mid 90's). It's a guy running around in a bat suit. He really shouldn't be taking himself too seriously (Like as an urban myth in Gotham at night his costume works, but in public on the Justice League in the light he kind of looks silly. ) I was meh on the first Tim Burton Batman and really didn't like the second one, but loved 3/4. Liked the first 25 or so minutes of Begins but got really bored with the rest. Dark Knight I liked Batman and the Joker but the rest wasn't anything special. hated Dark Knight Rises, and was not found of Batfleck in anything(just very forgettable to me).

@@blakepittman6679 campy Batman is more interesting if your looking at the larger Dc universe, like if he was going on adventures with Aquaman, green arrow, and Blue beetle. Brave and the Bold is probably the best example

@@tyandre see, I did not like Brave and The Bold at all. Did not appeal to me in the slightest. Campy Batman is just disinteresting to me altogether.

@@tyandre Brave and the Bold is amazing. Batman being a brooding loner all the time gets tiring.

They say “Fal-coney” in Batman Begins which most people remember. They said “Fal-cone” in the Gotham TV show which no one needs to acknowledge.

The best thing they could do with the trilogy is to tease the Joker all way through but never fully show him or have him battle the Batman

As far as the joker scene. It would have been so good if they showed you how the riddler was in such distress then cuts to a scene where he’s in an office in sort of a catatonic state and then Harley Quinn is his therapist. It would hint to the joker without showing the joker. And you wouldn’t even have to go any further with it. I definitely did not like the joker we were shown. He seemed like he was like 20 years old. If joker were to be brought into the next movie I’d like to one in his 40’s/50’s. Definitely not Joaquin. A joker that is much more of a criminal mastermind. Joker is definitely played out. I don’t know if we’ll ever have a better joker than heath ledger.

Clearly not the same universe as Joker because of Thomas Wayne
