I've always felt a little cringe feeling with the way we label everything as "Easter eggs." As a literary educator the correct term is "allusion"! I know definitions can change based on popular usage, but really what we refer to as Easter eggs are, in fact, allusions! I remember when Easter eggs were only found in DVDs when they were getting really popular and applied to hidden menu options and features about the movie. It was so cool to use the DVD remote to look for hidden clickable options in the DVD menus.

Well the rat cage on the face is directly from George Orwell's 1984. I also thought that the twin bouncers were supposed to be tweedle dee and dum. But the credits just say "the twins", enough to say I was disappointed to see a missed opportunity for a cool Easter egg.

With the rat cage trap, I just kept thinking of the ending of 1984 with Room 101 where Winston is faced with his debilitating fear of rats. I kind of like the idea that even in universe it’s meant to be a reference to that ‘cause Riddler, needing to show off how clever/intelligent he is, totally would make a reference like this even if that reference isn’t meant to be part of the clue

To me, the reason I think it wouldn’t be venom is because this Batman likely hasn’t encountered bane and I’ll tell you why. This Batman literally gets hit in the back of the head and shot at multiple times throughout this movie (perfectly represents me playing the Arkham games). If he was that “sloppy” when he met bane, bane nearly would’ve killed him.

Knowing Oscar Widle quotations is pretty pop culture. Maybe upper pop culture, but pop culture nonetheless. The guy was slinging memes and being sarcastic towards society before it was a thing. He made a career out of roasting society and pretention. Society got the last laugh unfortunately when Oscar was imprisoned for being a homosexual (which was illegal in England).

As much as I LOVED the movie as a whole I do think that Hush would have fit better within the story than Riddler. Riddler’s arc made sense but being an orphan affected by the Renewal project felt a bit forced. Have pretty much the same story but have the main antagonist as Tommy Elliot/Hush as the son of the murdered reporter seeking revenge on the corrupt city officials and Bruce Wayne. You could then give the movie an overriding theme of “sins of the father” as Bruce, Selina and Tommy Elliot deal with the consequences of their parents. Further reference to this theme could be Jim Gordon wanting to build a better city for his daughter and also the son of the murdered mayor who could become Robin/Nightwing in a future movie.

How would have the riddles and mysteries work with hush? If you replace riddler with Hush then everyone would have said this movie would have worked better as Riddler or the villain is just riddler with the Hush monarch.
@chrisxx5583
@chrisxx5583 2 жыл бұрын
@@vincesergi7339 True, it wouldn’t be an exact switch. You could tone down the riddle aspect and have them more as clues or breadcrumbs leading Batman to an endgame Hush is aiming for. It wouldn’t be like for like but the main story beats would remain in place. I loved the movie overall and it’s just a small nitpick.

Maybe weird but if I was making this movie and I casted the Tv Tim drake to be a jokerz gang member initiate, it would be to make a reference to The Batman Animated series and Batman Beyond second movie where it is revealed that Joker Beyond is an adult Tim drake. It was a fun accident by this movie, one I liked. the Half face would also make sense as the Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde storyline from the same animated movie.
